RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Today's version of Manoah has the potential to be No. 1 in Jays' rotation. Ya if can somehow find a couple mph on his heater and sit 95-96 and hit 98-99 he could be elite

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Blowing out the Rays is a rarity so have to enjoy these moments. Time to take the next two. Sweep these mofos and get legit back in the WC race.

I think taking a full offseason to use the elite training facility and pitching lab could potentially unlock ace potential if the stuff ends up ticking up further.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 My only real gripe with Reese McGuire so far was his catching of Manoah. I wasn't a big fan of his defense and framing either but he's been looking better in those aspects lately. Now that he's figured out how to call a Manoah game, I have become a Reese McGuire stan and would rather keep him as the backup when Kirk is ready to come back. Put Adams and Jansen on the trade block and see what you can get. Kirk is ready. I hope he's on a plane right now. He started playing extended spring training games 3 weeks ago. In 3 games at buffalo he's killed it. I really don't want to see him getting 2 hits for the Bisons tomorrow. I want him catching Ross Stripling. There is a chance they hold off until Sunday so he can catch Ray.

If he looses maybe 15-25 lbs and gets leaner could see his arm speed go up and let him hit upper 90s with ease.

Finally getting some offensive production from the catcher position is a really nice bonus right now, so you might as well bring up Kirk once he's ready and it's murder central for opposition pitchers. Combined with the return of Springer and Biggio, Adding Kirk into the mix will just make for a crazy attack 1-9. If Jansen can find his stroke in AAA and McGuire cools down then you reassess from there.

Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Like batters gripping the bat to hard, maybe he wasn't relaxed on the mound for his first handful of MLB starts. Some stress and nerves caused him to lose some velo and control??

He was up down up. It felt thinking and guessing at the plate after pitches at times. He just needed to get some confidence going. Now he's in AAA and doing well. He's working himself back to being a viable left handed option. Jansen needs to do the same. Get some confidence going for a couple weeks. Maybe some team will look at Reece as a desirable secondary piece in a trade.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Manoah 11 swings and misses on his slider alone
spats Verified Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Who would have thought Manoah would be an important part of this rotation this early in the season. That anticipation belonged to Pearson.

That was such a waste. What an incredible sinker he had when he first got here. High 90s and movement for days.
