Thread caused a trip down memory lane for me. This was before there was a team called the Blue Jays.

Expos games, no problem, they were on a local radio station when not on TV.

I’m a Dodger fan as well. That was a little problematic. Firstly, I lived back East and the damn home games didn’t even start until 11:00 PM. Secondly, an LA radio signal sure as hell wasn’t making it to Nova Scotia. So I scoured the AM dial for National League broadcasts at night. You could only get the games at night, because by law, only the 50000 watt clear channel radio stations didn’t have to reduce their power at night, and if you had a decent radio, you could pick them up. The ones I recall getting were Philly, New York, Pittsburg, Cincinnati ( that one was always iffy, faded in and out ), and St. Louis ( Jack Buck was a favorite, even remember the station’s call sign was KMOX ).

And when all else failed, that little radio of mine also had shortwave. The U.S. Armed Forces Radio network carried many Dodger games, and it seemed it was always the Dodgers home feed with Vin at the mike.

Now I have MLB Extra Innings, and get every game on TV.

You know what? I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Tucked in bed, lights out, radio against my ear at low volume so as not to wake the rest of the house.

Good times.

Bluebombers, you must know Gary.

He lives in Winnipeg.

He works in an office.

Nah, he don't associate with Gary's, John. Get it right, John.

Do you know that old commercial, Spank?

It was hilarious. The American woman had just the right accent, too.

Right over my head, sorry, mate.

ETA: Unless you mean the Greg from Manitoba, working overseas with the obnoxious American, he was right.

OK.

Don’t remember the product, just the humour.

Canadians were visiting down South, and met up with some Americans.

When the American wife found out they were from Canada, that’s when she said “ Oh, you must know Gary, he’s from Winnipeg, he works in an office”.

A riff on the ignorant American thing.

Spank, you’ll get it. You’re a smart guy, and I’m not saying that facetiously (correct use of the word, BTW,)

Obviously, I am not writing this clearly enough. For you.

The American woman in the commercial knows f*** all about Canada. She has met one Canadian in her life. Not unusual for my American friends. Now she meets another, and because they are Canadians, assumes they know each other.

f*** it, I give up.

That's a National joke though.

I’m in Mississauga. Got some great American neighbours here, cuz they let off the best backyard fireworks. Out on the balcony right now, watching them.

And never so proud on Canada Day when in my thirty odd years of living here, the fireworks were the best ever.

People spoke on that cancel Canada thing, and it was loud.

And I am a liberal.

Well done, neighbours.

Hey JB , I got your joke, it was a funny commercial.

however, I live in Vancouver.

Blue bombers just refers to blue jays hitting bombs.

Amazingly, got to choose that handle first try
