He meant league average, but let's be honest - Grichuk has a very flimsy skill set and he's like, one tick of lost bat speed or foot speed away from being literally replacement level.

 

There is no upside anymore. I just don't see it. Hope for 2 WAR and pray he doesn't turn into a total pumpkin at some point.

Early on in season listening to baseball central and Jeff Blair jerking off to a RF single says “Grichuk is going to hit .300 this year” lol. As if that’s means much and as if a Grichuk hot streak lasts 162 games. Look at his wRC+. Regression to the mean. He is what he is always. Basically a replacement level OF on offence and D.

Buck, Blair....all those f***ing useless on-air personalities do this on a yearly basis. Rinse and repeat. They are horrible for the game of baseball IMO.

 

I listen to the daily Wager Talk and Sports Book Review baseball Youtube shows for my analysis now. The gambling guys provide MUCH better day to day coverage than the talking heads on TV.

It's defense driven, he's talking about the bat and using WAR which is flawed, he should post the wRC+ numbers, they're not close. He's absolutely correct about the hot and cold streaks.
