Ex Player Verified Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Is McGuire a better option than Jansen right now? Serious question Reese definitely pounds the balls a lot harder
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 What position does Biggio even play on this team if not for 3B? Vladdy 3B/Tellez 1B or Semien 3B/Biggio 2B?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Yea if Biggio can’t play third I don’t know where he plays. He was turning into a solid second baseman. Sad to see his confidence imploding considering he did the Outfield transition without much issue last year.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Biggio has too much going on. Trying to find the right approach at the plate plus trying to be a good defender at a position he shouldnt be at. Feel bad for the guy. Management hasnt done him any favours this year. Maybe some vlad at third, tellez at first and biggio dh's for a little to figure things out at the plate.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 They better not put Vlad back at third. Hes turning himself into a stud 1B don’t f*** with that at all.
Slyfisher Verified Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 All this defensive flexibility crap sucks.. Good at multiple positions but masters of none

You can call it versatility but it can also be mediocrity at most positions. Maybe he can become one at 2B.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 They better not put Vlad back at third. Hes turning himself into a stud 1B don’t f*** with that at all. Ya I kind of agree. His arm is wasted at 1B but it seems like his long term position.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 On paper: SS Semien 1B Vlad Jr 2B Biggio 3B Bichette That would be great to try but I can't see Bo being moved off SS until he totally shits the bed. He hasn't reached that stage yet.
Slyfisher Verified Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 The logjam with Austin martin, groshan and others will further complicate things in the infield
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Ya I kind of agree. His arm is wasted at 1B but it seems like his long term position. I hate the notion that his arm is wasted at First. There are situations where a First Baseman with a good arm benefits a team greatly. Vladdy has already made a few really good plays with his arm this season. First Baseman throws more than people seem to think.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Cavan got yanked. This makes me think maybe he's not feeling well. It would explain some poor play in the field. Maybe he got the vaccine today.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 That would be great to try but I can't see Bo being moved off SS until he totally shits the bed. He hasn't reached that stage yet. That’s reality. Bichette will continue to be SS for now, so I think Semien to 3B makes the most sense. The only position Biggio is close to fringe average is 2B.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 The logjam with Austin martin, groshan and others will further complicate things in the infield I'm still guessing and personally hoping Martin will thrown to CF. We will need one in a few years once Springer can't play there anymore. Groshans at 3B. Logjam solved
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 The logjam with Austin martin, groshan and others will further complicate things in the infield I feel Austin Martin will never play a game on the Infield. After his first SS start in Spring. All his other appearances came in CF.

First Baseman throws more than people seem to think. Reason why people say that is because first basement throw the least by far of any other position on the field. So it's wasted relative to the other positions.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I guess it wouldn't hurt to rest Biggio for a few days and give Panik a few starts at third.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Jays probably hoped Roark would provide a bridge to Manoah or SWR later in the season (innings limit consideration). Forget it, bring one of them up next week. And/or sign Porcello. Porcello is still a FA? Wuck?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 They took Panik from his slumber and he decided he had to get us back into the game himself. Such a professional.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Panik just rakes guys Gets too much heat around here. Guy has been a good utility player from the 2nd half of the season last year and onwards.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 The logjam with Austin martin, groshan and others will further complicate things in the infield Doesnt seem like Martin has an arm for the left side of the infield apparently. I think he ends up in the outfield.

So it's wasted relative to the other positions. Understandable but I agree with Jonn. I rather a vacuum cleaner at 1B with occasional great throw rather than a blackhole at 3B. Vladdy looks like he’s finally having fun at first too, don’t need to mess with it now.

It's gonna be his long term position anyways since I'd expect him to add more pounds as he gets older. He's destined to be a big guy.
