He wouldn’t have been in the rotation if Ray or Pearson would have been healthy. I don’t think hes here just because he makes $12 million. The Blue Jays have shown a willingness to just eat money. Including Shun Yamaguchi most recently.

 

They are genuinely hoping he can eat innings. They might keep him for mop up duties if he proves somewhat reliable.

I'm pretty sure he still would be. Zeuch and Stripling would get pulled from the rotation before him. Now how long this holds true is debatable
