While I think our rotation could use an upgrade, "the truth" and "my opinion" aren't the same thing.

They certainly could use another stud SP, but the rotation was supposed to feature Nate Pearson and Robbie Ray.

 

And even then it was considered a decent rotation that lacked firepower at the top. Hatch/Kay/Merryweather/Zeuch was just supposed to provide some level of depth.

 

If the Jays win anything this year it will be with offense.

I can understand giving a player (in this case Tellez) a break once in a while, but after two games? At least he could have batted Panik ninth with Kirk at eighth. Is it that hard for Montoya to understand that Kirk has the far superior bat and that Panik has more speed / base running skills? f***ing Montoya is going to ruin our summer.

I think your selling Davis short lol. You’d think they could get by with an 8 man bullpen, but maybe not with our starting pitching and how buntoyo uses the pen

 

I'd take Davis over Panik too, but since Davis never gets a chance to hit I didn't want to presume what his offensive talent actually is.

 

Regardless, Buntoyo must be looking at Panik's 67 wRC+ against RHP since 2019 to justify having him not only pinch hit in the 9th inning but also START AT DH. Gotta get that bat in the lineup. I know OF defense won't matter as much with Zoinks pitching, but could have easily had Davis in CF, Grichuk in RF, and Hernandez at DH to at least improve the defensive part of the lineup.

The season has lasted two games without Panik in the starting lineup, this is already a huge concession by Charlie. You know he’s grieving inside watching our most professional hitter warming the bench.
