They went towards him still I think Cohen just got out maneuvered. Lindor's agent played it perfectly and milked every dollar out of them.

Weird part of that is everyone thought he was coming in all “Daniel Snyder Redskins” spending when he first took over the team but they drew a line in the sand with JT, Springer, and Bauer. Then let Lindor play them. Guess they knew they were knee deep already idk

Compared to many other MLB orgs with established front offices and systems I'm sure the Mets are a bit of a mess internally - money doesn't make you functional. I wonder if Cohen regrets some of the stances they took in free agent negotiations in hindsight
