Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I dunno, I find something aesthetically pleasing about .175 That's my goal weight.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 That's my goal weight. 344 is mine
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2021 Author Posted June 14, 2021 Vladimir Guerrero's batting average, ISO, and BABIP are identical today at .344. f***in weird. lol I just noticed part of this and came here to post. Among the Top 30 position players by WAR, Vladdy is among just four guys without a BABIP higher than his batting average.

Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Thanks, it would be so great to see Manoah go 7 and jays pull of the series win, head into new York on a high note. Of course the Yankees got the day off to rest their bullpen. I'm agreeing with a previous poster who said a win today takes away the pain of Friday's loss. It's hard to fathom how Montoya has a job . Maybe better suited as interpreter / benchcoach

Maybe better suited as interpreter / benchcoach I don't think he would make a good bench coach. That's a guy you want to be rely on to help with in game strategy, that's far and away Charlie's biggest weakness.
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Well Vladdy is really raking this season like the player they all predicted he would be if he keeps it up we'll be certainly up in the race for the triple crown and league MVP. Unfortunately his value keep rising along with his numbers. If he managed to win both accomplishment at season end it will take a mega million dollar contract to sign him

If you have a smart and analytical manager, it doesn't matter if his bench coach is a moron. You can easily just have a glue guy in that spot. But I don't know if I've ever heard of a manager taking a demotion to bench coach and I doubt Charlie would accept that. It's like AA not wanting to play second fiddle to Shapiro. I just want to see him removed from the manager position. I don't mind them offering him a bench coach role. I'm certain he'd say no but I'd be okay with it if he did say yes.

Maybe Chuckles gets the most out of his players if you take a MACRO view. Terrible MICRO manager but what if, say, he was the one to finally get through to Guerrero that he needed to get in shape?

I'm sure he's "great in the clubhouse" I didn't think the Rays probably valued that very much Maybe he was a good match with Maddon in that role Who knows
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I guess Charlie speaks their language. I have to give Charlie credit for one thing, wearing his mask properly and constant. But that's it. At least it covered his bland, dumb ,vacant face. What colour is the sky in Charlie's world? He kinda reminds me of Moe, the leader of the 3 stooge. If only I could in bed a picture of Moe . Moe Montoya head stooge.

They are just smart enough to get a taco kit that does both

Scion Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 So alot is being made recently about the impact of foreign substances on spin rates. I understand how RPM effects breaking pitches as it is creates more vertical and horizontal movement and thus more break. However, I am having trouble understanding why more RPM makes fast balls tougher to hit and was hoping someone smarter than me could explain this. I apologize in advance if this is being posted in the wrong thread, I just didn't know where else to ask this.

On a four seamer the spin rate (backspin) prevents the ball from dropping as much as the normal fastball. If the spin rate is high enough it can be a real whiff pitch, particularly up in the zone. Rising fastball illusion. Think Marco Estrada. This style of pitching has been very popular recently. Note that for sinkers, pitchers typically don't want more spin. Or at least, they don't care about more spin.

The hitter thinks its going to be at a certain spot but the ball doesn't drop as much and ends up at a higher point?

Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Looking ahead to tomorrow s game. Wouldn't ne surprised to see the trifecta of urshela, odor and gardner 4,5,6 in the lineup. All blue jay thorns in side. Gardner, while the hate is still strong, his bat speed diminished. Put him away with high heat
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I'll take that as good news, actually.

Scion Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 If this team can hang around .500 against Boston and New York this week and then make up some ground against Baltimore and Miami they will be well positioned to make a run at the deadline. Both through trade and internal additions. Not many teams are going to be adding: Springer, Merryweather, Kirk, Hatch, Murphy et al between now and July.

Higher spin rates contribute to the crazy movement profiles that the best curveballs and sliders display.
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 It will be awesome to see ,Scion, this team healthy, especially pitching rotation, live arms that are dependable, hard - hitting lineup top to bottom, awesome sauce
