Blue Jays acquire Robbie Ray from Diamondbacks for Travis Bergen

Starter that throw electric stuff, suddenly asked to throw strikes will produce good results. Who knew?

Robbie Ray looked good in his Blue Jays debut. He just has to keep it simple: Throw strikes and trust the defense behind you.

Ray struck out 235 batters last season without pinpoint location. You don't need to dot corners when the stuff is that good coming from the left side.

Keep the walks reasonable and everything else takes care of itself.

Stripling and Ray pitching just like the nags they were this year on their previous teams and Villar hiting .182 and gets thrown out on the bases every time he reaches, as I said what wonderful pickups. But keep telling me how stupid my comments on the trade deadline moves were.

Sure thing, your comments on the trade deadlines were, and still are, very stupid.

You seem to have mistaken this forum for the Sportsnet comment section.

They are good players. They aren't great players, but literally nobody has claimed that they are. They are perfectly fine acquisitions, and they cost very little in prospect capital.

You can not have a team of 25 All Stars. You Sportsnet comment section people are unhappy with every trade that doesn't return the best player in baseball.

Can we just ban this clown already?

"Not very smart" isn't a bannable offence...

Edit: but if another mod thinks he's earned it, I'm not going to argue.

It’s okay to have controversial and unpopular opinions. It’s also okay to be half glass empty and reek pessimism. We’ve had a couple posters like that over the years.

He’s just choosing to be THAT guy without backing it up with sound arguments AND while being a complete dick about it. Deadpool is right, it’s basically your typical sportsnet comment section type posts.

I do get where he’s coming from, I was one of the first to drive the Clevinger bus and hoping the Jays make big splashes at the trade deadline. They didn’t do it, but still had the second biggest haul at the deadline. The team can be frustrating to watch, but it’s also some of the most entertaining baseball this team has played since 2016. They’re making mistakes left and right yet somehow keeps it close every game.

I tried pointing this out to you when the trade was made, but the problem is that you're misreading the sentiment here, intentional or otherwise. Posters here understand that Robbie Ray has been terrible this season. They also understand that it's unlikely that the team fixes him over the course of a few weeks. Pointing out the obvious isn't as interesting a take as you seem to think it is.

They took a shot on a skilled pitcher who is a mess right now. They gave up nothing of value to do it. I think almost everyone on this site understands exactly what this trade was and what it wasn't.

I was of the understanding buy low is good, buy high is bad.

Not sure what there is to criticize about the moves.

We didn't get Trout and Kershaw, anything short of that is an abject failure.
