Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 So my take, as this seems to be close to what a MLB line-up could look like. 1.) I think they need to have Biggio batting lead off! OBP and speed, and Bichette is a better contact bat to have in the 2 hole and drive in RBIs. Teo should be ahead of Grichuk in the line up, I think he is a better batter. I also think Jansen should be hitting ahead of Fisher.. I also think he is a better hitter.. That is all. Thank God.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) Lineups cards updated. Red Sox have no pitching but they still have some thump in their batting order, it will be a good test for Big Nate. Full 9 tonight I imagine ? I think so, it's not an intrasquad game. BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) I'd swap Tellez with Hernandez and Fisher with Jansen in the lineup and that order is about as good as it gets. Hopefully Lourdes doesn't miss any/much time. I think they're sneaking Jansen in the bottom of the order as a "second lead-off/OBP" guy putting him 9th. He has one of the faster sprint speed for catchers in the MLB last season with 27.3 ft/s and 4.46s home to 1st. Jansen was even faster in 2018 and apparently his conditioning has improved. It's not quite at the tier of JT Realmuto with 28.7 ft/s and 4.22 home to 1st, but speed is still an asset for him. Willson Contreras was 27.7 ft/s and 4.37s HP to 1st, which is closer to Jansen's 2018 statcast numbers. Bo Bichette is 28.4 ft/s and 4.20s HP to 1st. Cavan Biggio is 28.3 ft/s and 4.35s HP to 1st. Statistics indicate that the 8th hitter will get X / Pie x 3.14/9 innings squared more bats per season. You want to have your better hitters get more ABs!!!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Yes, my son? You need the hair to play this role?

But I think Bichette really likes being the lead-off hitter and stays motivated doing it. Gurriel is absent from the batting order, that's not good. I'm a bit on the fence with Shaw as our cleanup hitter.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Bichette obligatory hack on the 1st swing and we're underway. Where's the audio?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 couple updates: Jesus Charlie keep Panik the hell away from the outfield, there's enough available outfielders on the damn roster that need playing time that a slap hitting infielder shouldn't be playing instead.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 It's bad enough without a crowd, but if you take away the commentators too I think I'm going to lose it. I need sound.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Hopefully by September it won’t look like Vlad was trapped in a chocolate factory the entire quarantine.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Vlad hustled down to beat that DP
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Hopefully by September it won’t look like Vlad was trapped in a chocolate factory the entire quarantine. No kidding. On the plus side, at least we get him while he's young, cheap, and healthy. If he balloons like Prince Fielder, then don't extend him and let some other team get the albatross contract
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Vlad looks to be in better shape, probably same weight though
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Red Sox treating Vlad like Ricky Henderson after he burned down the line
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Shaw taking some good pitches, they're putting a pretty heavy shift on him I think. Edit: and he walks
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Vlad looks to be in better shape, probably same weight though Do you have an optometrist close to you?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 This is awful, someone set up a mic in Pat Tabler's room. This is genuinely close to intolerable. I need to hear some stupid takes.
