Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Those were good shots, same with Reeses Pieces. BP arms looked good(save for Waguespack and Miller), Kay ran out of gas in the 4th but was good for 3, he needs more work. Romano was dominant, looks like I'll be wrong on picking him as the bust in this years thread.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 If vladdy struggles to hit I think a nice period on the bench would look good on him. LOL Tell me you're kidding....
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Yeah, he really stood out in that ballgame.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Of course when Nate is pitching the game isn’t televised
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 I missed it. f*** Anyone happen to have a stream? Anybody that missed the two intra-squad games can find a replay here: July 14: July 15:
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I remember all of us, me included, laughing at the thought that he would be a "core" part of our team not too long ago. The media was hyping him up along with Bo/Vlad due to the father connection. Well something clicked around 2017-18 and now he's definitely a stud/"core" part of this team's future. I would like to give you credit for admitting this and being a man about it. It is amazing the amount of visceral thrown my way from a bunch of know it alls on this board a few years ago when I was pimping Biggio. There was one thread when people were literally calling me a "f***ing idiot" for thinking he would be anywhere close to a Ben Zobrist comp. Too slow, defense sucks, has't hit well enough, blah, blah blah... I even got s*** when I traded for Biggio in Fantasy... Now I would not even give someone the time of day if they asked me for those same players back for Biggio. I also recall while we are on the subject... One of those Stud or Busts threads... Funny thing is I said I think SRF will be a bust, I was also called all kinds of names about that... Good thing I have a thick skin and would never use the report button. Same thread I said I think Romano will have a better career then SRF... Admittedly, I thought it would be SP vs SP... However, at this point, I think Romano has more value than SRF... Still early for all, so we shall see...

Still early for all, so we shall see... Just for the record, I was never high on SRF or Alford even at their peak hype. I’ve been all over Cavan Biggio since double-A, while I was scouting Vlad and Bichette. His zone recognition and left handed power was elite since AFTER swing changes in Dunedin. And I always said Biggio is pretty decent at 2B. Bichette was always my guy while the general population was all over Vlad. I love Vladdy, don’t get me wrong. But Bichette has always looked the part of a star to me, it was super obvious when you see him play as you guys do now. He impacts the game in multiple ways and has a star’s charisma on the field. Bichette absolutely roasted Bluefield and Lansing and caught my eye since.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 lol... need a Snickers, or feel better? Hmmm... I feel better, I just had to get it off my chest.. It has been festering like a daemon inside me... I also wanted to give some credit to baubau for manning up Thanks for asking
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Of course when Nate is pitching the game isn’t televised is it televised ?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Of course when Nate is pitching the game isn’t televised I'd like to get a look at Borucki as well.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 I'd like to get a look at Borucki as well. Borucki added a cutter to his arsenal. The changeup has been a plus pitch for him, but he really needed an extra weapon.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Really nice slider by Romano. Damn. Can Jordan Romano Stick? - part 1
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Can Jordan Romano Stick? - part 1 Looks like a wipe out slider to me, paired with 98 is obviously a big plus.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Author Posted July 17, 2020 Looks like a wipe out slider to me, paired with 98 is obviously a big plus. He's been working on a changeup for a while, but it's still a work in progress. As a lights-out BP arm though, 98 + wicked slider is really all you need if it's good enough (see Giles). I'm glad the Texas Rangers gave up on Romano and he got a chance to come home.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Author Posted July 17, 2020 We went from the lowest velo BP and oldest roster in baseball couple years ago... to this.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 6bb/9. Release him The Jays better send him to Buffalo to work on his command to start the season, I think about a week or so should be just about perfect.

Romano looked similarly excellent during his first pre-injury callup last season, I figured at the time he was a ready to insert closer candidate for when Giles was traded. But then Giles elbow prevented him from being traded and Romano didn't look the same later on in the year after returning, so that totally went out the window.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Pearson needs atleast another 7 days of development in the secondary roster pool.

I read that Romano found out last year that he was throwing way too much during off days and the fatigue was affecting his pitching. His routine seems a lot more mature and he said he was focusing on sleep and recovery. Combine that with his move to the bullpen and focusing on two pitches and you get a big uptick in velo and wipeout slider. He'll be fun to watch when he's on.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
