Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Lol. Yeah, I hate to be "that guy"... But man, this team just seems so far away. They sorta remind me of the 2017 White Sox or something. I was hoping by the time that Vlad and Bo were up that they'd be ready to make a little noise, but there's just no supporting cast. Various moves have not worked but the fanbase refuses to hold management accountable Truth is Atkins and team Shapiro are f***ing terrible talent evaluators. Just look at the rest of team. I think this team could reach .500 in the next few years but that will be about it. Sometimes people are not good at their job That's the reality of it. Shapiro might have been a good exec in Cleveland but a lot of the supporting cast had been there for a while. It's too bad. Both EE and Donaldson are still superstars and impact bats. Both wanted to stay long term. Both were chased out. Management cant keep a good relationship with anybody. I hope AA wins the Worls Series with Donaldson in Atlanta it will show the people here what they gave up.

There's 8 teams worse offensively, relax man, everyone knew we'd be s*** this year, are you surprised?
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 That was a genuinely nice piece of baseball broadcasting by Buck and Pat when they showed the Cal Ripken clip and they were discussing it. The broadcast producers need to do more of that. When they are telling old stories and showing their baseball experiences it's actually entertaining. More segments like that which focus on baseball as a whole. Instead we cut to Hazel Mae every other inning and she reports on what Luis Rivera said about Billy McKinney's improvements on the basepaths this year. Who gives a s***. Gotta try and polish the turds to hype up all the casual fans
wk680 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 We've allowed the 13th most unearned runs as a percentage of total runs, and 11th most total unearned runs. Teams worse than us include the Dodgers and Braves. Thanks for the info I guess the biggest issue right now is to improve the pitching.

I am a little bit, yeah... If you told me at the beginning of the year that they'd be 31 games below 500 in early September in a season with Vlad and Bo up, I'd have been very surprised and disappointed. Even Vegas anticipated that the team would've produced a lot better this year. So ya, it hasn't been an enjoyable season for me as a fan.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Shhhhh You're destroying the pipe dreams This team is terrible minus vlad and bo. Were in for 4 to 5 100 loss seasons coming up Gurriel and Biggio are clearly not terrible.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I miss Zauno. Why can't they bring him back and give him a 2nd chance
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 BUT no pitching studs have emerged this year. Not in the majors but certainly in the minors. And they also basically decided to run this season without a rotation.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I'd love to see us have this lineup for a week to see how it works Alford Bichette Vladito Gurriel Biggio Tellez Grichuk Teoscar Jansen

So ya, it hasn't been an enjoyable season for me as a fan. Once Borucki, Shoemaker, Buchholz, Stroman traded, etc went down... those numbers don't mean s***. Bo has 35 games played, Vlad just north of a 100, same with Jansen, and 80 for Biggio and Gurriel??? Your expectations were obviously flawed in believing a bunch of rookies carrying the load was going to happen.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I dunno man. I knew they wouldn't have a winning record, but I didn't expect them to be Orioles level bad. They're gonna finish the year around 40 games below 500. There's no way to spin it other than it being a botched execution by management. A showing that bad is unacceptable. It's Shapiro's 4th season, most people expected more by now.

Yeah fwiw the wins prediction thread had an average record of 76 - 86 (including Spanky’s prediction of a .500 season). Most people thought we’d have a losing season, just not be a 100 loss team.

What part of that post above don't you get? Complaining on August 23rd is a little late in the year, to have figured that out.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 FUUUCK! I hate seeing all this losing. I would emphasize the 2 unearned runs given up but since the Jays lost 5-0, well (obviously) what's the f***ing difference! But this team does seem to commit a lot of errors ( I would think they are one of the worst in MLB for unearned runs allowed). Wasn't it nice to see Alford come in and make a immediate defensive contribution!
spats Verified Member Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Wasn't it nice to see Alford come in and make a immediate defensive contribution! I would gladly give up Teoscar's inconsistent bat and his f***ing seeds for Alford or Davis's defence.
