So he needs to hit 100+ to be a closer?

No, about 98 to 99.

And on top of that he would have to get his breaking stuff over the plate.

Boshers now facing Alvarez, I wonder how thats gonna end

Law already throwing 96...4 to 5 puts it at 100 or 101 lmao

Lets try this again, he tops out at 96mph. He doesnt average that (for his fastball)

Gurriel is stupid if he thinks that was intentional

It wasn’t intentional but it looked intentional.

The top 5 pitchers in saves this year:

Yates: 38 saves, 93.6 mph

Chapman: 36 saves, 100.4 mph

Hand: 33 saves, 93.0 mph

Osuna: 31 saves, 96.9 mph

Smith: 30 saves, 93.0 mph

So 3 of the top 5 saves collectors this year average under 94 mph

Doesnt change anything at all

No, certainly not. A 94mph fastball has nothing on a 99mph fastball

In case you're wondering, Derek Law can crank it up to about 94 to 96.

Giles can hit 99 to 100.

The latter makes a huge difference on your fastball, and to how many people you can get out

Jesus Christ Ken Giles just throated the top of the Astros lineup. f***ing elite.

Not every closer needs a heater, but Derek Law apparently needs one

Derek Law isn't a closer. He's barely a viable bullpen option, although that could change if he gets the walks down.

Looking forward to my first game in three years today since I was last over. [emoji16]

Guess that Beau Taylor being selected means we won’t see Maile again this season (maybe ever if McGuire sticks?).
