Jansen has been one of the very best defensive catchers in baseball this year, elite by every metric. McGuire looks solid too, but to say he's clearly the better defender is not right at all.

 

Jansen has been outstanding with his throwing, blocking and especially framing. He's fantastic behind the plate.

That's what I thought initially, but the replay angle looked quite different. I think he was looking to poke it through there, and the ball just happened to be inside.
