I dont think he is going to land much of a deal just like he has no trade value. He reminds me a lot of Marco Scutaro in the sense that he is an afterthought to anyone but who has him

Absolutely. He is our only good established starter and only 28 yo. I wish they could sign him to a mutually agreeable extension (5/$80M still seems reasonable to me but I suspect he expects more). Either way, it feels like Shatkins has little room for error on this one.

 

 

ETA: interesting game tonight with Jays scoring 12 runs but with only 3 XBH (and only one of those being a HR). Just goes to show you what an unpredictable sport it is. I seem to recall the Jays having only 4 hits total but 3 runs on all solo HRs in one of the games in the recent Red Sox series.

Maybe we can get a decent prospect for him?? Sogard is 33 and having a career year, there's no guarantee he'll have a similar year next season. I think trading him is best option, assuming a contender even wants him
