gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Yes because walking the bases loaded to get to Xander Bogaerts is just a sound strategic decision. Devers has been destroying us and is having a fantastic season. I know Boagarts is no slouch but he is a right handed bat and the fact that there's a force at any bag also helps.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Devers has been destroying us and is having a fantastic season. I know Boagarts is no slouch but he is a right handed bat and the fact that there's a force at any bag also helps. Bogaerts is having just as good of an offensive year and has historically been the better hitter, and he draws a bunch of walks. You never willingly give up a bases loaded situation to face that guy, the fact that there's a base open means nothing if he's just as likely to drill one into the gap or into the bleachers.

Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 That was a 95mph fastball Jansen hit (EV 105.3)
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Jansen is finally turning it around and showing his potential
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Holy s***, Jansen is back 2 weeks ago half this board wanted to send him down
jmomcc Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Jansen turning it around would make me feel a ton better about this season. Especially, when he looks legit behind the plate. That’s a potential building block.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Vladdy just needs to break a bat over his knee to turn things around.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 2 weeks ago half this board wanted to send him down Yeah, people who don't know s***. Young catchers that have been handed the starting gig always work and focus on their defense and calling a good game. Their offense is usually neglected, thus the early struggles. Jansen has shown to have a decent bat, so you know it will come around once he reaches his comfort level defensively.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Did those f***ing guys just throw out Tellez and Astudillo as ROY candidates?
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Yeah, people who don't know s***. Young catchers that have been handed the starting gig always work and focus on their defense and calling a good game. Their offense is usually neglected, thus the early struggles. Jansen has shown to have a decent bat, so you know it will come around once he reaches his comfort level defensively I think Jansen's potential is better than Russell Martin

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Needs to intentionally walk Devers here.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I think Jansen's potential is better than Russell Martin Lmao
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I think Jansen's potential is better than Russell Martin It very well could be. His defense has improved a lot in the past year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Needs to intentionally walk Devers here. Should have given him the base.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 also we literally dont have anyone I think management would have gave him this year regardless. He has tons of potential.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Needs to intentionally walk Devers here. Should have given him the base. Hey guys.. We got a f***ing problem here?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 It very well could be. His defense has improved a lot in the past year. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but are you f***ing retarded? At Jansen's age Russell Martin was a 5.5 WAR catcher. He's got 55 career WAR, literally Hall of Fame level. Jansen's potential is not better than a 55 career WAR player, and that's the end of this discussion.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 career wise ??? Or year ??? Or compared to someone you wishing to see His comparison too ? Pertaining to the discussion - Martin's 5.5 WAR year at Jansen's age. Edit: 2007.
