RACIST. Shame on you

Three biggest negatives about Meyer

3. He is from Minnesota which means he will be asked about the civil unrest in his home state tonight

2. He is a big hockey fan and won't immediately shut down hockey questions from our f***ed up media

1. He is a f***ing ginger

Outside of those three things I am good with it

I like how those three points were strategically prioritized by number in reverse.

The dream scenario is that the Royals are high on Meyer and take him. Then it makes it an easy decision. Veen would be the obvious pick. If they take Veen, I'm torn between Meyer and Gonzalez.

We need a GDT, has been too long

I agree. Keep this thread for mock drafts, scouting reports and articles.

Done and done.

I guess I'd at least prefer Meyer to Lacy. That guy is gonna be a massive bust.

I don't think Veen is an obviously better pick than Gonzales. I doubt anyone does. You can have a strong preference for Veen which is fine.

Meyer seems to have a pretty high floor. which is enticing. It seems most scouts think his 2 pitch combo is lethal enough to be in an MLB bullpen right now.

Best case scenario he has the potential to turn into a top of the rotation guy if it all goes right for him; he remains durable and his changeup continues to develop and he can get a 4th solid pitch in his arsenal. If it doesn't work out he can be a strong bullpen piece. I really like that range of outcomes.

I guess the way I look at it is that I would find it harder to decide between the best available pitcher and best available hitter; but I'm sure they have one hitter ranked above the other. And everything I've read they seem higher on Veen then Gonzalez. That being said I'm sure they've done enough homework to rank Meyer above any available hitter if they go that route.

High floor is a fancy way of saying safe pick. Boxy approves.

I'm sure Meyer would be ecstatic to be picked by the team in the hockey capital of the universe. Got to wonder if this is part of the reason for the strong linkage of the Jays to Meyer. How much more of factor is signability for a team like the Jays?

Up until about a month ago, Gonzalez was always in top 3-5 talk and Veen was no where in the top 5.

Having said that, I'm okay with the Meyer pick.

His college K rate matches the stuff. I like.

Call him up right now and he gets to Skip being a prospect, seems like the safest choice

He's a ginger, but apparently 6'1" and over 200 lbs now. One of the more athletic guys in the draft.

Any respiratory disease?.

Already immune to covid19?

If hockey has anything to do with this then the whole FO should be fired!!

If that's even a part of the reason than fire everyone. I feel like it has more to do with the fact that he is very good.

Eh, I was just throwing s*** out. The bigger question is how much signability influences who the Jays pick. Jays, being a non-US team probably have a bigger issue with this than other teams, so more influence on who they pick.

Jim, no kid is going to be dumb enough to turn down millions of dollars at the #5 slot because "Canada".

Appel, Funkhouser, Rasmussen

Maybe there is no influence on the Jays draft board.

Could be a bit more challenging to sign him if Martin is expecting #2 pick money.

Not signing a guy in this environment might not be so bad though, as it's a bit more of a krapshoot this year.

Next year, you're going to have a much better idea of how good/ready these kids are whereas this year the scouting was pretty limited.
