Exactly, consistency is his downfall. If he can become less 'streaky' he becomes a more effective player, even if the overall season numbers are about the same. It's something that should come with more experience and maturation. As far as the contract, it is a relative pittance when you consider starting pitchers getting $210M / 7 yr and only play every 5th game (other than playoffs). I have no problem with that investment, considering the potential upside. Frankly, I am really pulling for this guy...

 

 

That's been my point all along, same as many others. Volatility in SP deals come later by rule, relievers after that.

You're right to a point, his uni is saturated and are their hands, the ball is only the dry object they have, it's still very hard. Coach's dumn!

Even the ball likely isn't. The gloves are wet too, as well as the ump's ball bag. It doesn't take much moisture to be difficult to grip.

I liked your post and agree, whole heartedly. Coach knows better, though.
