5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I like the idea of bunting here, the Cleveland offense is s*** right now. 1 run is likely all we need. Pretty weak that Maile couldn't get one down
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 If you are hitting in the 9th spot or a light hitting back up catcher, you better f***ing know how to bunt. Fundamentals!!
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I'm not a fan of bunting in general, but it's Luke Maile at plate... LOL
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I like the idea of bunting here, the Cleveland offense is s*** right now. 1 run is likely all we need. Pretty weak that Maile couldn't get one down Bunting is almost universally terrible. You should never like the idea of bunting.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Oh f***, do we have a bunting manager now? I don't want to have a bunting manager. This f***ing sucks. Yea, because we are hitting the cover off the ball:confused:
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 If you are hitting in the 9th spot or a light hitting back up catcher, you better f***ing know how to bunt. Fundamentals!! He gave up 2 strikes with stupid bunt attempts. Oh, and if he had successfully bunted there, the Jays still wouldn't have scored on that ground out to first.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Yea, because we are hitting the cover off the ball:confused: Yes, the solution to not getting any hits is to give up an out for nothing.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 What a cluster.. Maile had one job to do.. The little things like screwing up relays and failing to move the runner over really kill you.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Tuned in late today... What the hell is with Brito hitting in the heart of the lineup the past 2 games? And Mckinney batting 3rd? I know we're rebuilding but man... That's a stupid looking batting lineup.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 He gave up 2 strikes with stupid bunt attempts. Oh, and if he had successfully bunted there, the Jays still wouldn't have scored on that ground out to first. Bruh you want them to hit dongs? Homeruns are bad in the playoffs. You got to grind out those AB's and manufacture dem runs!
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Alright guys, I think we might have to accept that Montoyo is not a good manager. I had hopes, but this is just stupid.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Alright guys, I think we might have to accept that Montoyo is not a good manager. I had hopes, but this is just stupid. Lol I was thinking the same thing. This is a dumb as f*** move
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Alright guys, I think we might have to accept that Montoyo is not a good manager. I had hopes, but this is just stupid. Sometimes the only way to learn something is to try it and fail. Hopefully Montoyo learns quickly from his mistakes.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Yes, the solution to not getting any hits is to give up an out for nothing. It is not nothing, you realize you can score on a sac fly etc.. the %% is much higher then getting a hit. Especially this team now. Tie game 8th inning. It is the smart and obvious move. Edit to add: PH Hansen is NOT the smart and obvious move..
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Bunting is almost universally terrible. You should never like the idea of bunting. We're facing a s*** lineup in a tied game in the 8th with a guy with some wheels on 2nd with no out and Luke Maile at the plate. Bunting is a no-brainer IMO.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Sometimes the only way to learn something is to try it and fail. Hopefully Montoyo learns quickly from his mistakes. If he hasn't learned that bunting is dumb by this point in his career I don't hold out much hope that he's going to pick it up...
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 He just pinched hit with a career 73wrc backup infielder Lmao
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 It is not nothing, you realize you can score on a sac fly etc.. the %% is much higher then getting a hit. Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Montoyo may be overusing the analytics.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 We're facing a s*** lineup in a tied game in the 8th with a guy with some wheels on 2nd with no out and Luke Maile at the plate. Bunting is a no-brainer IMO. The math says that a sac bunt is bad. Maile has hit flare singles in the past, it's not like he literally cannot hit the baseball. Him swinging away has a better chance of a good result than him sac bunting.
Stoneyen Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Lol at Montoya. Who would’ve thought putting f***ing Brito 1st and McKinney 3rd would come back to bite you. Not to mention all the bunting and pinch hitting Hansen haha
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 He just pinched hit with a career 73wrc backup infielder Lmao hahaha Montoyo's certainly had some puzzling lineup configurations.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 It is not nothing, you realize you can score on a sac fly etc.. the %% is much higher then getting a hit. Especially this team now. Tie game 8th inning. It is the smart and obvious move. Edit to add: PH Hansen is NOT the smart and obvious move.. Maile blooping the ball into right field is more likely than the bunt resulting in a run. Bunting is bad when you crunch the numbers, NEVER f***ING BUNT. Unless you're in the dumb NL where they pretend that pitchers hitting is a thing that anyone wants...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Yeah pretty disappointed at the bunt attempt there. Not that Maile is a great hitter or anything, but you have f***ing Brito up next. Maile is probably the better hitter of the two. Then he has Hanson pinch hit for McKinney when Hanson is horrifically bad against LHP in his career (he's bad against righties too but OPS .140 higher against righties). I'm sorry for ever giving you s*** Gibby. Most managers suck.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 hahaha Montoyo's certainly had some puzzling lineup configurations. Gibbons had some real head scratchers too, but somehow they had a knack of working out.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Anyone here defending the sac bunt move should look at exactly what just happened and realize that even when they tried to do the stupid move that was a bad idea, they failed. BUNTING IS f***ING DUMB AS f*** 95% OF THE GODDAMN TIME.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Yeah just even attempting to bunt with a runner at 2B and 0 outs is just egregious.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Gibbons had some real head scratchers too, but somehow they had a knack of working out. Gibbons almost never tried the sac bunt, and that was one of his best characteristics.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Holy f***ing f*** ump you deserve to be dragged outside and beaten to death for how bad you are at the strike zone!
