John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 The players union should have fought for these guys a long time ago, but instead, like most unions they just fought for the people at the top. Unions only have to fight for their members. MiLB players are not part of the players union. So, while its a wonderful narrative that the MLB players union has somehow failed the MILB players, it's pure fiction.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 (edited) Would an MiLB union ever fly? Why would you need one , make them part of the MLB union ... They are drafted professional baseball players already ! They should have a Vote in thier futures As well as a voice in it should they not ??? Not that people Vote in elections but would this not be the same as not be allowed to vote Like you are 30-35 or earn 100,000 dollars! Edited March 19, 2019 by BigBounceyBlueBalls

Minor league players would out number major league players by like 7-8 times. That would completely shift the focus of the Union to them over the major league players and probably result in salary caps and limits at the top in exchange for raising the bottom (not that I would disagree with that).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Would an MiLB union ever fly? MLB paid big money to lobby the govt to not include professional athletes excluded from some employee standards law. They aren't going to bother allowing a minor league union that is for sure.
