Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'm sure Urena can manage a passable Freddy Galvis impersonation ROS and maybe next year as a utility/bench guy. No offense, but Urena's posted a wRC+ in the high 60's over his last 1,282 PA's in AA and AAA. He's solid defensively, but utterly useless at the plate. It seems really unlikely he'll ever deserve a spot on the 25 man roster, let alone replicate Galvis' production at the ML level.

Ideally, Vladdy, Bichette and Biggio get enough time that the utility infielder is used rarely if ever. Just need a warm body there to fill in for a blow-out or two.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Of course Noooooooooooooo ACEucki..
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Tommy John... Good thing we got his replacement in Kay.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Remember when everyone was pissed Clayton Richard and Clay Buchholz were going to take innings away from Ryan Bourucki and Trent Thornton? Good times
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 They just said continued issues from bone spurs I think it's likely he goes down for the rest of the season for surgery to remove the bone spur giving him issues.
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I think it's likely he goes down for the rest of the season for surgery to remove the bone spur giving him issues. Agree, he needs them removed both for physical issues and on going problem, but also for his mental approach from not holding him back in his mind in fear of re-occurrence. Put him under the knife now sooner than better for next season, bone spurs don't fade away..
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Burocki is nothing He was our best pitcher in 2018... If not injured, no reason he cant replicate that, he is also a lefty.. Very dismissive post considering what we have in the system..
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Weird. Abom must've just acquired him in fantasy. *Looks* Yep.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Tommy John... Sounds like bone spurs in elbow. Minor. I had them removed from my pitching arm and I was fine in a few weeks.

Very dismissive post considering what we have in the system.. He's pretty much had 3 full seasons lost to injury since being drafted. The massive injury risk is part of the Ryan Borucki package.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 And now Lourdes goes down with right knee discomfort. Ugh This team is gonna force its way into a Top 3 pick next draft come hell or high water.

We may never win another game this whole season. Ken Giles might as well just be the opener 3 games a week cuz he's never going to have a save situation again

Ken Giles might as well just be the opener 3 games a week cuz he's never going to have a save situation again If our pitching doesn't completely implode (and that's a huge if), I think we could actually play close to .500 ball the rest of the season. We have a lot of high end young bats who could make a lot of noise, and a lot of young players very eager to make an impression.

There's just literally no pitching (we can see why Atkins went out and got like 8 pitchers this deadline)
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 So the next wave(s) of starting pitching...what are you guys thinking...assuming healthy (for hypothetics) Wave 1 (now and part of 2020) ----------------------------------- Wag Thornton Zeuch Borucki SRF Wave 2 (as early as June 2020?) ------------------------------------ Pearson Kay Wave 3 (2021?) ----------------------------- Murphy Manoah Wave 4 (2022+) ------------------------- The kids How do you see it?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 So the next wave(s) of starting pitching...what are you guys thinking...assuming healthy (for hypothetics) I would say (some of these guys may get cups of coffee the year before): Wave 1 (now) ----------------------------------- Wag Thornton Borucki SRF Merryweather Pannone (I think he gets a legit chance to start) Wave 2 (2020) ------------------------------------ Pearson Kay Zeuch Wave 3 (2021) ----------------------------- Luciano Murphy Diaz Wave 4 (2022) ------------------------- Pardinho Woods-Richardson Manoah Kloffenstein
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Thornton s*** command, SRF can't command the fastball, Zeuch the Jordan Zimmerman clone, Murphy the guy who cheated baseball with his ileal move, Borucki the kid that can't be healthy, Merrywather the new Danny Salazar?

I forgot about Merryweather. And Pannone had a very good start, and some decent relief innings. I was thinking Luciano 2022+ on, but he's got to be 20 now, and he's had a stint. So good call there. There are a lot of pitchers to become starters...and the only sure ones IMO are Pearson and Manoah at this point. Sure thing as in ace-ish.
