Buster Posey and right handed Todd Helton are in this class and J4L is concerning himself with the next Christian Colon

I like Andrew Vaughn and Rutschman but they will be long gone by the time the Jays pick most likely. P2F and i were discussing Vaughn many months ago about how insane his numbers are. Will Holland is just a personal fav of mine that i feel will go in the range of where the Jays will pick. I like toolsy college guys who play premium positions (See TSwag) I will also be watching a ton of Auburn baseball this year so that i guess could change.

I had a conversation with someone from Dazn and they are looking to add NCAA baseball.

That would be amazing. i purchased the whole year right away only to find out the only sport they have that i care about is NFL and i have the supers sports pack. lol

Although i'll give credit to Dazn for getting me to gamble on Russian hockey and Italian soccer games.

I do find most NCAA baseball teams have streams on their sites for almost all their home games.

4. Andrew Vaughn

5. Corbin Carrol

6. Will Holland

Some Will Holland bombs

^ First game i got to see him since i was obsessed with Tswag

What are your (and I welcome others to chime in *cough* TheHurl *cough*) thoughts on Kameron Misner? Reports and numbers look good. Seems like a bigger OF version of Holland.

I'm not too familiar with him. BA has him as the 29th ranked college player though.

Kameron Misner

Missouri OF

Notes:

Ht: 6-4 | Wt: 210 | B-T: L-L

Commit/Drafted: Royals '16 (33)

Scouting Report: Drafted in 2016 in the 33rd round by the Royals, Misner continued on to Missouri, where he has been a regular in the lineup since his arrival on campus. He this year was slowed by a broken foot, which limited him to 34 games in the spring and kept him out this summer. Listed at 6-foot-4, 219 pounds, Misner has a powerful, athletic frame and an easy lefthanded swing. His approach is geared toward hitting line drives up the middle, and he makes consistent hard contact. His size and bat speed give him solid raw power, but he’s still learning to make the most of it. His speed and arm are both above-average, giving him a chance to play all three outfield positions.

Blue jays could be drafting four really good pitching prospects in this years 2019 draft.

1. Carter Stewart

P. 6-6

2. Kendall Williams

P, 6-6

3. Gianluca Dalatri

P. 6-6

4. Jimmy Lewis

P, 6-6

right from this Keeghan website i pay for.

If true what i have read and seen about these guys would

be great for the team. All have 95 plus fastballs and different off

speed pitches. And possible work horse pitchers.

hopefully when the jays picks all four of these guys are they. And

the blue jays brass feels the same way as this guy.

I agree, Todd. If there is solid pitching available, I would draft very pitcher heavy.

Rumors starting to trickle out that Kyler Murray wants to play in the NFL. What a stupid ass pick by the A's lmao. I'm pretty sure that they even paid him a bit above slot and STILL let him play football this past fall.

Murray is going to regret it if he chooses the NFL over baseball. Short term it makes more financial sense to go to football since the minor leagues + first 3 years of service in baseball isn't lucrative at all, but long term it is no contest. Undersized QB, non guaranteed contracts, CTE, less money as he gets older, etc. Whatever, it's the A's and not the Jays so don't really care what he does, but I hate the NFL/football so stealing players from them is always a good thing.

Can't he make make more money as a backup QB than he can as an MLB star?

And QBs already play until they are like 37 years old. Now the rules give them even more protection.

not to mention, in sports you are probably better off getting your money fast. Careers can end (or not ever get off the ground) in a heartbeat

I think the average salary in MLB is double the NFL, but not sure what the number is now. A lot of this is skewed because MLB players make nothing during their first 3 years of control, while NFL players get paid and reach the league immediately. MLB seems like a league where you are more likely to make money during the life of your career (assuming you're a big league player) whereas the NFL will be more a flash of money early on (non guaranteed) and then a drop off.

The one thing in Murray's favor is as mentioned QBs can last longer with the new rules, and elite QB's are generally the highest paid players in the league, but he's still undersized (5'8, 5'9?). The odds are against him. Of course if he's a s*** baseball player then he'll make nothing aside from his signing bonus, so he has to be somewhat sure he can stick in baseball.

I hope Stroman doesn't read this post.

If he's drafted top in the NFL, he's looking at a fully guaranteed 4 year deal worth like $25M+. And then if he's even average at QB, he's making $25M+ for the next 3 years guaranteed.

Average MLB vs NFL salary isn't really important when you're talking about QBs. Case Keenum made $18M this year, a 30 year old career backup with limited tools who had a nice season last year.

I typically side with the MLB > NFL argument, but it's a lot harder to say this when it regards a likely high first round QB.

Also, the A's are really dumb. The fact that this was even a possible outcome made it such a stupid draft pick. Far too much possible downside taking him that high.

Didn't he sign a contract that said he wouldn't play football (outside of this past year in college)?

It depends. Tim Tebow won the Heisman and lasted in the league for a couple of years before he fell off and went to baseball. According to Wiki his original contract with the Broncos only guaranteed $8.7 mil. Don't know how much he ended up walking away with.

If Murray is a good QB then I agree he will make good money. The knock on him is his size and level of competition he played against in college. If he's more of a back up QB, then sure he will get paid, but not as much as if he ends up being a good MLB player.

Baseball is systematically set up for players in their late 20's and 30's to get paid, where in other sports it is the opposite. So baseball does present a lot of risk for him since if he's not any good then he'll make nothing in the minors and $500k a year in the majors for 3 years before he even gets to sniff millions. That's the risk he has to weigh. I'm not sure what his baseball upside is.

I remember reading somewhere that only 28 or 29 players in NFL history have ever made over $100m. In baseball it's got to be way more than that. It's about whether you want to play the long game or instant gratification. But yes, being a QB changes the game since those guys usually get paid and avoid the typical injuries that most NFL players do. If he played another position then baseball would have looked more appealing.

Posted

Yeah and that list is going to grow. Doing a quick search of just current/recent Jays, Edwin will make over $100m by the end of 2019. Bautista is over $100m. Martin will be at $98m by the end of 2019 so he might top it depending on the contract he gets for 2020. Donaldson will be at around $77m by the end of 2019 so he has a good chance if he has a good season. JA Happ by the end of his current Yankees deal will be at $90m, and if his 2021 option vests then he will break $100m.

Baseball players make more money when they are older. That's really the only downside. When you're in your 20's and want to live it up, you'll be riding buses and eating Ramen noodles until you reach the bigs, then you'll have to wait another 3 years to start making millions. Risky but the upside is greater if you end up being good.

Now the story is "A's expect Kyler Murray to enter the NFL draft"
