Beltre Retires

Just read he is retiring. I think he and Mike Schmidt the greatest two 3B Ive watched. He is/was an incredible player. First ballot HOF.

 

Aside from being a great player I'll always remember him bear hugging one of our Jays during a heated playoff scrum with the Rangers (can't remember who, but he wasn't able to move lol. Jose on the Odor punch?)

Shame because he never won a ring correct?

 

I heard there was talk he was going to get traded to a contender last season so he could try and have one last shot. He probably would have been a better target for Cleveland than JD.

Love Beltre but I bet he comes up short of 1st ballot. He was fan friendly but for years was not media friendly. They pushed so hard for him in 2004 for MVP (which was Bonds .609 OBP year) and he just wouldn't play ball with the media (even saying that they should vote for Bonds).

Beltre retires but that is more than offset by the return of BigC

Doubt it. I think 3000 hits alone gets him in on the first try.

Too bad, sad day, he still has a lot to give in my opinion. Great ball player. Yes, it was Jose, lol.
