Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 I didn't say I didn't like what I've seen. He's a solid 5/6 guy. He's battled. I just think SRF could benefit from some time in the majors this year and he could be in the rotation from day one of the season next year. I know, no one wants to start the service clock, but I'm the eternal optimist....I think the jays could be a young team that competes for a wild card position next year. We don't even know what our roster will be, you high?

Honestly, SRF isn't a guy I'd be super worried about the service clock on, I think you do that with your A and A+ prospects, SRF is more of a B guy to me... I'd like to see him after the Happ trade.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 SRF has a SwStr% of, like, 13 this season. Just a tasty nug to snack on for you doubters out there.

I'm not saying he's a future ace but he currently has the makings of a potentially very valuable piece for us that we might want to have for a while, so his service time might be something we might not want to play around with.

I feel like it doesn't matter with pitching nearly as much. I mean look at guys like Drew Hutchison, Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd etc.. Would bringing those guys up a year later make a difference?
