Even with 2 outs and Martin up next, he should have sent him. In that situation, you take the chance.

Martin looks done. He's a catcher at age 35 so not all that surprising.

Yeah, I've been saying that for near 4 months, his hard hit is fantastic too. He has a black cloud following him.

He's walking more, but fewer line drives + more soft contact (hard% about the same as usual). Plus he doesn't look as good on D. He's probably better than his line currently is, but he's done as a starting C.

I'm hoping we see him split time with Janssen next year, but might as well let him play out this year as the starting catcher, 'cause Maile isn't going anywhere, and he's pretty much worse...

 

Pillar still can play some D, even if he can't hit for s***.
