I'm starting to realize that it's going to be one of those boring years. The worst part is that they're clearly not going to be competitive AND it's becoming clear that we won't be seeing any of the hot prospects. There's really not much of a reason to watch as most of these guys are at the end of their contracts or simply place-holders.

What kind of narratives are keeping you guys excited for the rest of the season?

I just like to watch my favourite team play baseball. I'll be hoping that they win a lot of games and get back into the race, as unlikely as that seems.

Yeah, as a hardcore fan, I simply enjoy watching for the sake of it. But lately I've been watching more games around the rest of the league while the Jays are playing. There just isn't anything all that interesting to follow with this club.

I wonder how all of the casual fans are going to react. I reckon there must be a ton of band-wagoners jumping off.

@Jays4Life: haha I hear you on that! Unfortunately I f***ing SUCK at betting on baseball. It's the sport I know the most about and the league I follow the closest, yet it's sport I'm the worst at betting on... By a big margin lol.

I'll probably watch very little of the Jays for the rest of the season. A lot of other games I'm happy to watch though.

Yeah, same. That's kind of what I'm getting at. Watching the Jays everyday has been a routine of mine for nearly 20 years, but now with streaming services and my computer hooked up to my TV, I'm just more excited watching other teams this year.

Very little motivation. If some of our future was here then it would be fun watching them develop but there's very little here that I'm excited about. I'm not too bullish on the Mirage, Stro had been a dumpster fire, Fists Osuna had his own problems.... What else is there?

Hoping for a high pick in 2019 and some deadline selling.

For me, I'm interested to see if Stroman can right the ship and to see if 2016 was an outlier for Aaron Sanchez or not.

That's essentially it though.

I think one of the main things that I dislike about the current team is the lack of athleticism. They're a slow grip it and rip it team that doesn't even hit home-runs. It's not very entertaining to watch.

Not going to watch many, if any, games, but looking forward to the trade deadline (now that the draft is over). This team could realistically be a bottom 5 team in baseball with their roster + injuries, and they won't be calling up any top prospects until 2019 at the earliest. Gonna be a long season.

That's another thing that sucks. The deadlines always an exciting time for a rebuilding team, but so many of the guys who would've been targeted are having awful seasons or are injured. I mean, Smoak might get us something, but I don't think we're going to get many pieces that we can realistically build around. I suppose J.A Happ is the only guy that we might see a nice return for.

Grandy: old and declining

Pearce: injured

JD: injured

Happ: Very good

Estrada: meh

Garcia: Trash

Oh: Good

Axford: Good

Clippard: meh

Loup: OK

Yeah seriously, outside of Happ, the Jays won't get much for anyone. Still time for JD to come back and go in beast mode but probably won't get much for him at this point.

Hope they look for deals for Smoak and Pillar but I don't think they will.

Yeah, I think in general that teams aren't going to give away any blue-chip prospects for a rental. Even if Donaldson comes back and has a good month or 2, I don't know that the return would be anything too exciting.

I would rather watch the AA or AAA teams, honestly. By quite a bit.

I am okay with the continued losing in that it'll force this FO to trade some of the vets. We need some OF depth and need to plan the SP rotation for next year. I would almost offer Estrada an extension, just to have that 5th guy on the rotation figured out.

And I am okay with the FO not promoting any of the blue chips. It's a sound long game strategy.

Atlanta needs a 3B and AA has a history with JD. Unfortunately AA is probably better now having worked under Friedman for a few years, but still, ATL has a deep system. Get a couple of solid depth pieces for two months of JD and it's probably a win at this point. Unless he's so bad the rest of the way that they could offer him the QO and hope he comes back for a year.

Yeah, that would be awesome. I hope he can bounce back and stay healthy and turn some heads. I'm sure he'll be extra motivated to prove himself so he can get on board with a contender and build up his value for free agency. Time is of the essence though!

Good, beat it, just like you have before, for the Rays, Senators, you're a curse.

it's pretty much impossible to watch right now, but Happ's starts are probably always going to be worth tuning in at least.

You also got to figure it cant possible get much worse, and maybe when Donaldson gets back it will be a somewhat watchable team, if anything.
