BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Lars Nootbaar to the Cards cards win again
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 The draft is in the 5th round and they've already agreed to a signing bonus with their 3rd round pick? I call BS Likely pre-draft agreement with all of their first 3 picks, I like it. Groshans said he'd sign also.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 And if you know me I'm a prospects guy. ROFLMAO!!! cf
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Apparently Liberatore signing for close to slot with Tampa which makes the Gorshans pick more underwhelming. Wonder if the Jays offered Liberatore similar money and he turned it down.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Or maybe they valued Groshans and Kloffenstein as a package more than Liberatore
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Has Owen Sharts been picked? Would be fun for shits and giggles... *Womp-Womp*
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Has Owen Sharts been picked? Would be fun for shits and giggles... *Womp-Womp* Duce just went
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Has Owen Sharts been picked? Would be fun for shits and giggles... *Womp-Womp* Good Orioles pick in 3 years from now

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Rays had an incredible draft. Obviously it may not turn out that way but they have so much intruguing talent.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Or maybe they valued Groshans and Kloffenstein as a package more than LiberatoreExcept it's not just Liberatore. It would've been Liberatore plus whoever else they would've taken with the 3rd round pick.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Robert Broom arm angle is insane. That could be a nice reliever to follow. He throws up to 93 as a sidewinder
MarcoSanchez Verified Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Or maybe they valued Groshans and Kloffenstein as a package more than Liberatore Two lottery picks are better than one
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Two lottery picks are better than one Yeah. Correa + McCullers over Byron Buxton
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 This Blue Jays draft crop seems like it will be really fun to follow. Little bit of everything.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Except it's not just Liberatore. It would've been Liberatore plus whoever else they would've taken with the 3rd round pick. True
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Well... it wasn't money then. Colour me confused.
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I’ve prided myself on pitching and not just chucking it since I was 14 or 15,” said Kloffenstein. “I hate walking people. This year I had 19 walks, and that’s still a little more walks than I’d want to have. I want to make guys hit it, I want to make my defence work and make guys put the ball in play.” The mature approach will serve him well in pro ball, which he’s excited to begin even as there are some nerves about taking the next steps. Great. Conner Greene 2.0 We drafted a pitch to contact doofus

He seems to have swing and miss stuff from reports too.
metafour Verified Member Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 So for some reason the A's are actually paying OVER slot to sign Murray (~5 million), AND letting him play football this fall. Mind blown.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 What if Murray has an incredible season and an NFL team wants him. He clearly loves Football. You can’t pass up the opurtunity to play QB in that offence. You also run the risk of major injury if you sign him now.

Mind blown. It makes no sense why they passed on Swaggerty. The decision could've been defended if they had agreed to a well-below underslot deal with Murray, but that didn't happen. With football in the mix, it would seem like Murray is significantly less likely to reach his ceiling than Swaggerty, which is, for all intents and purposes, about equal to Swaggerty's. LOL.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) What a conundrum that kid is sandwiched in. Way before the draft we talked about this, personally through a work to sport, is redonkulous. Edited June 8, 2018 by Spanky99
