Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Seriously, most of the international guys are in the Dominican where all the prospect writers are in the USA. The top IFAs get their coverage when they attend marquee events. For obvious reasons, the draft gets more coverage than the IFA market. Of course, that's obvious. Doesn't change what I said.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 ...the f*** am I reading? lol ITT, we try and come up with how many times a person would need to take a piss after consuming over 30L of beer. It has to be at least 25 bathroom breaks.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 If a mod could come in and just fire raid the last - oh, I dunno - 30 posts or so ITT, that would objectively be for the best.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Imagine the smell! God damn. I think after the 3rd piss the urine would be like 99 percent water so it shouldn't be too bad. Spanky to confirm

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Well that’s one way to start a draft day thread.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Yes let's get back on topic. So what's everyone going to eat and drink for the draft? I think I'm going to get some beers and order some wings.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Send me the BA 500 list when you get a chance. My BA subscription died a horrible death with the update to the new site. Hurl or BTS should be able to help though.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Yes let's get back on topic. So what's everyone going to eat and drink for the draft? I think I'm going to get some beers and order some wings. Good idea. I'll have wings with ye ol' gin, water, and lime. P2F's Famous Primo, Best Wings Ever (Special Rule 4 Draft Day Edition) Recipe: Get some plain, unbreaded wings and cook them in my oven at, like, 425F for about 20 minutes, first placing them on a baking sheet or cake pan. Feel free to use a slice of parchment paper. Turn the wings over at the 10 minute mark and return them to my steamy oven. Remove them from my oven (using an oven mitt - NOT my nor your hands, as the pan I had previously put the wings in will surely be hot) and sauce the plain, unbreaded wings with Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing sauce. Let the wings cool. Insert the first wing into your already gaped mouth, relax your jaw, and shut it with force. Repeat this multiple times until your mouth is full with P2F's Famous Primo, Best Wings Ever and continue masticating until it's easy to swallow the brilliance of this culinary delight down your throat hole. Repeat until all of the delicious wings are consumed. Good times were had by all.
devo Verified Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Wings 1. Trim raw chicken wings 2. Toss wings in bowl with a little bit of franks red hot sauce 3. Toss wings in flour 4. Put on baking sheet on a piece of parchment. Brush a little grapeseed oil on both sides of wings. 5. 20 minutes in the oven at 425 6. Flip and another 10-15 minutes at 425 Glaze 1. Combine garlic, ginger, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, fish sauce in small pot. 2. Bring to boil for 2 minutes then turn down to low. Should thicken up and become a liquidy glaze. 3. Drizzle glaze over wings and toss in bowl. Best f***ing wings you've ever tasted.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Damn you guys are the best. I'll probably be too lazy to cook but we'll see.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Guess we can close the existing food thread.

Also, lightly dusting the wings with baking powder lowers the temperature for the maillard reaction to occur, resulting in crispier wings. I prefer mine fried with a light dusting of flour. They don't taste breaded but gives them an extra light, crispy layer. Honey garlic wings are also amazing and fairly easy to make: 1/2 cup honey 4 tablespoons soy sauce 4 large garlic cloves , crushed 2 tsp powdered ginger 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes 1/4 cup water Simmer on stove until reduced. If making oven wings, toss wings and return to oven for a few minutes to caramelize.

Frank's on its own is missing a huge part of a flavour profile, we do the same thing along with a bit of tomato sauce - dilute the Frank's with tomato sauce and butter depending on how hot you want it. The butter really takes it up a notch
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I'll just order a pizza and eat the whole thing over the sink like a rat.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Can we grab a position player in the first round for once? Or is it too much to ask?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Cbs sports final mock has the Jays taking a college arm at 12. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2018-mlb-mock-draft-auburn-righty-still-projected-to-go-no-1-to-tigers-in-updated-first-round/amp/ 12. Toronto Blue Jays: RHP Logan Gilbert, Stetson The Blue Jays have been in on college pitching all spring and, in our mock scenario, they'd have their pick of anyone except Mize and Singer here. Gilbert was a potential top-10 pick coming into the year -- he was a possible top-five pick at one point -- though an inconsistent spring has him sliding down draft boards. He offers as much pure upside as any college pitcher in the draft class aside from Mize and Singer. They have Swaggerty falling all the way to 27 to the Nats
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 So is the BJMB consensus on the T Swag train?
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) Gilbert is a bit underrated I think. And no reason Swaggerty should fall that much. It would be a very hard pass for the Blue Jays Edited June 4, 2018 by BlueRocky
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Relevant - 9 of the top 15 Fangraphs prospects are international signings. Shouldn't the international signings be the higher focus. They are mostly 15 year olds with s***** video, and of those 9 how many were top 25 internationals? It's getting a little better but I remember I looked into the top 25 international signees (by money) about 5 years ago and only two were everyday regulars and only one had been an all-star (Miggy)
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 So is the BJMB consensus on the T Swag train? I wonder if you could ruin Vlad Jr. for the board?
