The Iceman Verified Member Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 OK, I drank the Kool Aid to start the season. Lets rest this guy and keep him healthy. I am completely 180 degrees from that now. Dude is 27 years old. What is the end state here? Play him 2/3 games forever?? Dude needs PT and ABs. He stinks right now. Ride him hard and get him right. If he can't handle it ship him and his .130 BA to Buffalo to get it right. Next man up if need be...
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 He was just as bad last April, before going on a tear in May.
Maico450 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Maybe when Donaldson comes back, a stint at DH in Buffalo could help. I wonder how healthy the knees are? Travis, if healthy could still turn into a batting champ. Have to help him, not hinder his recovery. The question is, which is the right move?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I don't agree with riding him hard. Make him earn his PT. Give Solarte reps at 2B when Donaldson is back and otherwise let Travis and Gurriel fight it out. This is very much a case of "What have you done for me lately?"
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Updated Steamer600 projections for 3B/SS/2B: Donaldson 5.3 WAR Tulo 2.4 Solarte 1.9 Diaz 1.7 Travis 1.5 Gurriel 0.5 It's too early in the season to deviate from apportioning playing time based on that ^ info. When Donaldson comes back Travis should be on the bench.

I'd give him a little bit longer to figure it out. If not, make him fight for a spot. There's a few guys knocking on the door right now and there's nothing wrong with some healthy competition. The Jays actually have a pretty good bench this year.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
