HalladayFan89 Verified Member Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Hi everyone! Big jays fan here looking for a forum to get involved with this year. Been a Jays fan since I've been a little kid and just looking to talk some ball with other knowledgeable people Just had a few questions about this forum (I've browsed around the threads a bit) -Do you guys like to use the newer stats when discussing players or standard HR/RBI? I'm personally into more advanced Stats -How deep does the discussion go? I find analysis using batted ball data to be really interesting, is that common discussion on here? Maybe you guys go even further? -Are there any sort of 'flavour' posts in the forum where people provide their own in depth analysis? Maybe someone could share some? -How is forum activity? I assume pretty good with the Jays fan base expanding quite a bit over the last few years -I notice there is a prospect thread, do you guys typically watch the prospects or depend on your favourite list? -I find that there aren't that many threads... do people make more during the season? Sorry for the millions of questions, just trying to get a gauge here! I've looked through the forum already but figure some of the more senior members could help me out with some of my questions, and it's a good way to introduce myself!
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 1) it's a pretty SABR board but the most analytical members who would provide original research moved onto big boy things. Traditional stats aren't really used but we try not to be as obnoxious if someone quotes ERA anymore. 2) I don't know, the days of JFaS/north posting original projection systems are over. There's still a lot of smart people here though. 3) forum activity is slower the usual rn. The best discussions take place in the off topic forums in the fantasy threads. 4) prospects are fun, they are discussed here with an emphasis on the Jays obviously. We have a draft thread too and I try to post a bunch of useful stuff from BA. 5) most of the core posters are on here 24/7 and thus mega threads are often used. It's nice for us that are super active but for people who don't log on as much I guess things can get missed. It's the best bluejays forum on the Internet though. Welcome! Just one question so I can properly gauge your baseball knowledge. 1) how do you feel about David Cooper?

I've often wondered if Spanky is actually behind all the troll accounts and it's one big massive troll on us all lol
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I have been here for a few months, after years on Reddit and Real GM, I can honestly say, this forum is a great place for advanced baseball discussion. People here also try to be efficient with their posts, and discussions are succinct and precise. If there is one complaint I have is that the Forum does not load very well on Mobile.

I'd stay away from this forum...based on my limited observations, it seems very cliquish, and if your ideas fall outside of the main clique's ideas, then you'll get harassed (unless of course you donate money to the forum then you can do whatever you want). Moderators are also very immature.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 "Does your cat have the diabeetus?" Making fun of my cat that died of diabetes is in pretty poor taste IMHO. I'm considering having you banned over this.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I hope your pets die in a house fire that also burns all of your possessions, leaving you with no choice but to vote Liberal until your dying day. That's pretty dark and oddly specific
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I am very curious as to what the new member thinks of the recently created KevinPillar breakout thread.

LOL @ you guys thinking that any of you have physical possessions. The most prized possessions you have are winning fantasy teams. Not even a laptop or phone. I'm assuming you log in in at the library. You wanna destroy someone on here? Hack their keeper leagues and start making trades.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 As you can see the majority of threads dissolve into people insulting each other, so you’ll want to make use of the ignore function! /s
