JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Does Philadelphia have a good package to offer?
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Lots of intriguing pieces there.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 if phillies are going the AA 2013 route, we should happily oblige
baubau Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Lots of intriguing pieces there. Thoughts on Moniak? I'd be looking at Kingery + Crawford. Not sure how likely they are to move him but would love Eickhoff included somehow as well.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Well if they want to compete now, JD would be an upgrade over Franko. No point to hanging onto JD if you trade Stroman.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Sixto Sanchez, Crawford & Kingery
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I'd move Stro without hesitation, but only for the right package.

For Stro, I'd be asking Altherr, Sixto S, and a couple of high risk/reward projects like Kilome and Jhailyn Ortiz
Shart Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Well if they want to compete now, JD would be an upgrade over Franko. No point to hanging onto JD if you trade Stroman. Stroman is overrated. Trading him doesn’t mean we can’t still compete.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Stroman is overrated. Trading him doesn’t mean we can’t still compete. Wish there was a downvote option on here. In any event, Dinger is just trolling us.
Shart Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Wish there was a downvote option on here. So Stroman is the ONLY way the Jays can compete? Think outside the box Jim.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Lots of intriguing pieces there. Definitely. Would want at least one of their intriguing MLB ready (or close) bats along with Sixto and probably some other goodies. They definitely have the ammo to pry a good pitcher away if they're willing to pay up.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/report-phillies-inquired-blue-jays-marcus-stroman/ hmmmm its interesting Shatkins has made only minor moves so far..... makes me wonder if they are debating which way to go - retool and compete in 2018, or focus on the farm
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Stroman is overrated. Trading him doesn’t mean we can’t still compete. I am talking about the Phillies. The jays aren't competing now, as much as Shatkins pretends they can.

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I would try to force Tulo in a Stroman trade, clears $60 million in dead money to go to town elsewhere.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I would try to force Tulo in a Stroman trade, clears $60 million in dead money to go to town elsewhere. No point in reducing the return that way. Only thing to do is wait out Tulo and Martin contracts when ~$35M AAV comes off the books. And use it then to get some high value free agent. Vladdy and Bo should be high performers by then.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I would try to force Tulo in a Stroman trade, clears $60 million in dead money to go to town elsewhere. I'd much rather continue to pay Tulo than have him kill the value of one of our top assets in a trade.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 If Jays put Stro in play, at least half the clubs in MLB would have strong interest. Cubs and Angels for example.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Stroman is overrated. Trading him doesn’t mean we can’t still compete. This team is not going to compete in 2018, regardless of where Stroman plays. My only concern is where this team will be in 2021...cause that when I'm hoping their next window opens. I don't see anything realistic happening in Toronto for a few seasons.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Yup. Kingery/Crawford + Sixto + a lotto ticket or two would be pretty intriguing. Kingery/JP Craw, Sixto, Franco, Medina/Kilome/Suarez and Cabral for JD and Stroman?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Is this even news? I'm sure 5 other teams "inquired'

Now is the time to sell high on Stroman. Get some high level prospects.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 The narrative that the Jays can't compete in 2018 entertains me. The AL is top heavy with 4 good teams (two of which are susceptible to a big injury) and the 5th spot could realistically be barely above .500. I'm not opposed to a retooling but an assumption that you will get zero from Tulo, Pearce and Travis again just seems like a mistake.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
