I'm rooting for Manziel's comeback but he played two seasons and washed out of the league. Add to that, an extremely colourful off-the field life.

 

Marcus Stroman shows excitement and tweets non-offensive things you don't like, while becoming one of the top pitchers in the AL.

 

You completely minimized and maximized just the right aspects of their lives in order to compare them to each other.

Whew I am sure glad Atkins is white! Can't be racist criticizing him and there is a lot of well deserved heat headed in his direction. Shapiro not so much, which is a good thing because of anti-Semitism, but then again his people are stereotyped to be good negotiators and that is not what happened here.

Sometimes he acts like a self centered, entitled, childish douche with an inferiority complex.

When he gets his way, everything is rosy and cool. The moment he doesnt he throws a temper tantrum. That is the definition of a child.

He wins his arb case and is happy, says the blue jays were cool etc. He loses his arb case the next year and throws a tantrum and criticizes the org.

He should have shut his mouth, stayed off social media and worked on his craft like a good professional would..

It’s not about tearing down a confident young black man, it’s about the fact that he’s a little much with it sometimes. There are probably a few bigots in this thread to be sure, but the hyper-sensitivity is a little much too.

 

That said, on the whole, he gave Toronto a lot of good memories to be thankful for. I don’t mind him causing a ruckus on his way out, I wouldn’t like being treated the way he has been either. (Not saying management was wrong to ship him, but regardless of right or wrong I’d be pissed if I was loyal to the team and a great pitcher and I didn’t get approached about an extension and just got left in the dark knowing I was trade bait.) I hope he does well with the Mets, hopefully one of those prospects turns into something at least. Sucks to see him go with a full year left.
