I wanna take what y'all say on this board seriously but then you get threads like this and just makes you wonder. Stro by far the most likable player on the Jays given what he came from and how goes about his business. I really hope they resign him long term and if they don't I'll hope he does well wherever he goes. Stroman is definitely a fan favourite if you're a fan who's under 30 and not white, a demographic I'm sure the Jays would love to have on as fans. Or maybe they can bring back the "White Jays" that Riccardi had put together I'm sure that'll be a great team on this board to cheer for.

I'm more than willing to have Stroman on the team, considering primarily that he's an elite pitcher. His twitter antics are off putting, but I can live with it easily considering I don't personally know him and doesn't affect my life in any way.

But you were literally the first person in this thread to underhandedly bring race into this. No one else found Stroman to be annoying d/t the colour of his skin. But yet here you are. Good job.

Agreed. I think everyone has pretty much prefaced their opinion by saying that Stro is an excellent pitcher, but a miserable whiner. Can't understand why it's so difficult for people to seperate the two.

Yup, and I want to keep pitching for the Jays because first and foremost, he's arguably a top 20 pitcher under team control. If the Jays ever think of trading him than he should fetch a return that reflects that, otherwise it'd be a very bad move on their part.

Didn't he come from middle class American parents?

I guess we all loved Arencibia and Lawrie because being a white disqualifies one from being a douchebag...

Exactly. Those two were f***ing brutal. Especially Lawrie.

I was going to bring up Lawrie as well. Dude was insufferable and more annoying than Stroman, and his white ass got called out for it. Not sure what race has to do with anything here.

Clearly fans should only cheer for their own demographic players.

We should play Chinese, East Indian and Middle Eastern players so those groups watch, why cut off all fans when we can be inclusive instead of trying to just build a good team regardless of race?

My argument has always been that I think he is probably a great teammate as well as a great pitcher. If anything he cares too much about his teammates...and overshares. Even saying that they are negotiating a long-term deal is not for his Twitter friends.

Race has nothing to do with this. Im sure I speak for everyone else when I say we dont give a **** whether your black, white, yellow or brown. Stroman is half black and half latin anyways.

Most likeable player on the jays given what he came from and how he goes about his business? Nonsense. Firstly, his father was a cop so dont pull that where he came from s***. The problem with Marcus Stroman is he doesnt think before he speaks or tweets. He isnt humble, has a big ego and would put himself before the team.

The most likeable players on the jays are Marco Estrada or Osuna. Take a look at Marcos humble beginnings and how he conducts himself as a professional. He will always do whats best for the team. Roberto Osuna was forced to work when he was 11 years old to support his family.

A lot of us are under 30 and not white. Oops! Stick with that victim narrative, I'm sure it will take you places.

The "where he came from" comment is an assumption from this poster that all black people are poor and incapable of success on their own. Kind of a weird way to think but what do I know?

Yellow?

The fact that he thinks the way Marcus Stroman conducts his business should make him the most likeable player is cringe worthy.

Asian. I have no idea why that colour is used. In North America we say non asian men who prefer asian woman have "yellow fever".

Its an arbitration hearing, what did he expect? He knows this is just part of the business. He would have had the same hearing last year.

I know this will probably be unpopular but I don't care how big of a douche he is off the field as long as he performs on it and helps this team win some games.

I care only about between the lines.

That sounds like a redneck college football fan who cheers for rapists, women beaters, murderers, drug dealers, cheats, anything ...as long as they win.

I’m not saying Stroman is as bad as a football player, coach or AD but there is more to being a professional than what happens between the lines

Shut up, f*** head.

So if he punched his wife or girlfriend repeatedly or was into kiddie porn, you're okay with that? Moron.

Right, because that's what I'm saying, invalid.

Stro show is a show. As a fan I love the guy and want him on the mound for my team.

His comeback from his knee injury and his late season performance was historic. He had one of the best MLB pitching seasons last year and he is a Jay.

Do I love all that Stro brings?

HELL YEAH!!!

OK, you can shut up now. Those comparisons are ridiculous..
