Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Burch Smith isn't going to last to where the Jays pick, is he? He would be a great pick. Jays have the 12th pick so no chance unfortunately.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 In before Abom posts we should go after Mark Appel Apparently Appel has been DFA'd. I'd love to have us get him to fill that long man / spot starter role. Maybe we can even sort him out, who knows? He beat you weeks ago.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Welp, No selection for the Jays. Burch lasted to 5 tho
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 not yet. lol, Gose was just selected by the Astros tho
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 man, he only pitched at high-A last year and walked 5 per 9. They really think they are going to roster him for the year? (especially a team of that quality). I guess he apparently throws near 100, so there is that

Weird to see a guy with over 350 MLB games being taken in the rule 5 draft.

I just think that if is pitching well enough to warrant staying on the roster, you would want to limit his injury exposure running and playing the field. And if he isn't pitching that well, the value of having a pinch runner / defensive CF'er (especially in the AL) probably wouldn't out-weigh just calling up a better RP

There's no risk.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Apparently Nick Burdi is being traded.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Cool. Never heard of him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Triple AAA portion now, Jays lost Mitch Nay to the Reds, too.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I thought we passed or is this the triple A version? Funny we take another Giant, that's where Biagini came from
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Wow They are very busy in the rule 5 draft this year I wonder how many of these guys stick??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Taking someone from Indians system may be crafty
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Wow They are very busy in the rule 5 draft this year I wonder how many of these guys stick?? Minor Leagues bro, these guys are just filler.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Minor Leagues bro, these guys are just filler. I failed to see "Minor league" version of rule 5 draft Thanks
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Has any minor league portion of the rule 5 players ever ended up amounting to anything?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 How's the AAA rule 5 work? Do we just have to keep them in AAA all year?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 How's the AAA rule 5 work? Do we just have to keep them in AAA all year? Nope, there are no restrictions for AAA picks. They are yours to keep.
