P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Yay, he Pearced the hearts of the Red Sox with that hit.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Hoffman fWAR 1.3, Tulo since the trade 3.2. Does he catch Tulo by the end of the season?
wk680 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Yeah but sometimes you need to let your young stud try and get himself out of it, if anything to build experience, especially when your other option is Leone. Yeah you need to bring in someone better than Leone in that spot or don't bother. But it did make sense to pull Stroman, as he was up to 106 pitches. Just a shame his nice outing went to s*** so quickly.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Leone trying for the one pitch win.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 ...but Tepera in now? Yeah this is mind boggling with only one out needed in a sticky situation the previous inning. I guess Tepera isn't allowed to pitch in the seventh inning.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 It's kind of dumb how if a pitcher makes an error and runs are scored that those runs don't go as ER's
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 It's kind of dumb how if a pitcher makes an error and runs are scored that those runs don't go as ER's Because those runs would not have scored if not for an error? Regardless who committed it, an error is an error, thus the runs are not earned.

wk680 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Leone trying for the one pitch win. Is anyone here familiar with the possible existence of a rule that it is within the discretion of the official scorer to award the 'W' to a pitcher who was not the pitcher of record when the team took the lead for the final time in the game. Like in this case, he could award the W to Stroman instead of 1-pitch Leone? I was told such a rule exists but is never invoked in MLB.

When a position player makes the error I get it.

I think this can only be applied when the SP doesn't go five innings and happens more often when the SP only pitches a few innings.
Yippy Verified Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 It's been awhile since Osuna has blown a save

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 It's really hard not to love Osuna.

Well, a SP is considered a position player. If the play was made, which in most cases it is and that's why it's an error, the runs would not have scored.
wk680 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 http://m.mlb.com/glossary/standard-stats/win That's a nice description. Thanks!
