PREVIEW...

By Brittany Ghiroli / MLB.com

The Blue Jays have rebounded from a brutal start to the season while the Orioles are reeling from a tough June. Still, both teams find themselves at the bottom of the American League East, but still well within striking distance in a closely-contested division.

The two teams -- each off on Monday -- will square off for a three-game set at Rogers Centre on Tuesday, with Jays righty Joe Biagini facing Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman.

For Biagini, his time in the rotation likely will be coming to an end soon with the return of Aaron Sanchez on the horizon. Biagini is 2-5 with a 4.91 ERA over nine starts, and he allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings last time out. Against Baltimore, he has a 2.45 ERA in 11 innings, though this will be his first start against them.

Gausman is having a disappointing season, going 3-7 with a 6.47 ERA after a fantastic end to 2016. But the righty is coming off a better outing, falling one out short of a quality start against the Indians last week.

• The Orioles enter the game with some serious pitching staff issues. Baltimore tied the 1927 Phillies on Friday by going 20 consecutive games of allowing at least five runs to an opponent. That streak camed to an end on Saturday.

• Since moving into the leadoff spot, Jose Bautista is batting .381 (8-21) with a .480 on-base percentage.

• The O's own the season series so far, going 7-2 against Toronto at the halfway mark.

Curse of the first. On the bright side if we hold them to less than five runs we have a good chance at a W.

I really hope you are right and we should...our offense has to get something going sometime vs a bad pitcher
