Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Is any one still interested in participating in the Homerun Contest again this year? Also, any suggestions on how to make it better or keep it the same?

Also, any suggestions on how to make it better or keep it the same? the numbers need to be more stable. 1 week of hitting a few bombs or a cold streak should not change the numbers. just take preseason projection numbers. have 5 levels of projection and set the numbers for the season, not changing all the time. it's impossible to catch up if every player has a low number by seasons end when some got huge points for the same guy hitting a HR earlier in the year

Like 50% projections and 50% actual numbers. Would balance it out somewhat on breakout or slumping guys. If you go 100% on projections or 100% on actual numbers... any good / bad year by any player could skew things dramatically
Brian Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Everyone put in $10 winner gets 60% 2nd place gets 30% 3rd place gets 10% Just a suggestion

If a player is rated to hit 15 and he hits two in a two games in june that doesn't mean he's going to hit 40 for the year. the player is still probably only going to hit 15 for the year and just happened to run into two.

Weighting would pretty much do that

I think I had it pretty consistent the whole way, some players jumped because I had them probably to low (more pts) to begin with (Martin and Tulo). The rest pretty much stayed the same. Is that the way you were wanting it? I think I only changed pts if they reached 10 or 20 HRs
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 (edited) I will be hosting this year's Homerun Contest for those who are interested in playing. Big thanks to Dylan for doing this in the past (hopefully in the future again as well). For those who are new, this is a simple contest that runs throughout the season. The goal of the game is to pick one player on the Jays that you think will hit a homerun during each game. You do not need to make a pick each game and you can join in whenever you want. The rules will stay similar as last year. The season will still be divided into two halves and the top 10 members from each half will enter a three round playoff. Please post any questions you may have. Good luck everyone.. Let's go Jays! Past Season Winners 2016: 2015:1. Dylan 2nd. Candy.Maldonado 3. BBBB 2014:1. LetTheBallFly 2. o2cui2i 3. John_Havok 2013:1. angrioter 2. bowld 3. SumoNinja Bautista - 2 Pts Donaldson - 2 Pts Morales - 3 pts Tulo - 4 Pts Martin - 4 Pts Smoak - 5 Pts Upton - 5 Pts Pearce - 5 Pts Travis - 6 Pts Pillar - 7 Pts Barney- 9 Pts Carerra- 9 Pts Goins - 9 Pts Bench - 10 Pts *Point values will try to remain constant throughout the season Bonus Points: First HR of the game.... +2 2 HR Game.................... +2 3 HR Game.................... +3 4 HR Game.................... +4 Grand Slam................... +5 Walk Off HR.................. +6 Double Pts on Saturdays! 3 Game Streak (+1), 4 Game Streak (+2), etc I'll also throw in other bonuses on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Contest Rules: 1. Pick a player on the Jay's lineup that you think will hit a homerun at*ANY TIME*during each game. 2. You can only pick the same player*3*times during each week (Monday-Sunday)If you pick a correct player you will earn the corresponding points. 3. You can only pick one player and you must have your pick in before the first Blue Jays at bat. 4. If you are going away, you can PM LetTheBallFly your picks for the upcoming games. 5. Streaks will win you bonus points (bonus points above). 6. Streaks must be in consecutive games, if you miss a game your streak is over. 7. Standings will be updated regularly and available on google docs (link will be posted above). 8. Player points will be doubled on Saturdays and other bonus games will be conducted on the weekend. 9. The season will be divided into two sets at. 60 games and 60 games. With 3 playoff rounds of 10 games (May change depending on the season). Playoffs: Top 10 members from the first half, and 10 members from the second half clinch a spot in the playoffs - The two top members with the most OVERALL points will receive a bye to the 2nd playoff round. - Playoff ties go to the member with the most overall points during the season. - It is important for those who make playoffs in the first half to increase overall points during the second half. Let me know if I forgot some players to begin with or if there are any questions. Edited April 2, 2017 by LetTheBallFly
