jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Yeah demand is certainly high. I mean that mastercard presale with the extra 15% is such a scam but when you have that much demand you can pull it off. It is, quite ridiculous. Thinking of just waiting for Friday, though that will be a mess online. Haven't looked at going to Wrigley in a while, though what are ticket prices like on StubHub? Are they that more expensive then face value?
TholesWeirdEye Verified Member Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Are you looking for 500 lvl? Anything really.

Haven't looked at going to Wrigley in a while, though what are ticket prices like on StubHub? Are they that more expensive then face value? I went on today and looked at buying a few. I have the Rogers Mastercard so I thought I'd give it a try. Turns out the prices went up like 25% in half an hour so you were actually better off buying earlier with the extra 15% since they use the dynamic pricing. I had 2 seats 8 rows from the Jays dugout and they were going to cost $488 which was I thought was crazy. My card didn't work since I didn't have the credit space available, so I tried again and the damn tickets were $713!

They said they would go up 15% when purchasing on a MasterCard, how could they change it to 25%? I went on today and looked as well. Easily looking at close to $300 CAD per game for a pair (even for bleachers or upper level seating). Plus, the game Friday is at 1PM so kind of sucks that you have to fly out there really early Friday. Wish there was a night game at Wrigley. I'll see what else pops up on Friday during the general sale, though if I don't get anything its not the end of the world. I've been to Wrigley before and would rather save the money for postseason tickets or even for another baseball trip like to Pittsburgh or something.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 With prices like those I think its just better to wait until closer to August.

They have dynamic pricing so the prices go up based on demand and inventory minute to minute. Basically the prices went up a ton because tickets were going fast for that game.

This is a scenario where one needs to clear their browser history and keep trying until the calculation is more favorable. All kinds of things can factor. For instance prices are usually higher on Mondays because that's when keeners do their shopping.

I'll wait until the general sale on Friday, so hopefully they don't use dynamic pricing. If not, then I'll save the 2-3K that weekend and use it towards another small baseball road trip maybe to Pittsburgh or save it for the postseason. Or like ChrisS said, just buy tickets closer to August. They can't be that absurd on StubHub and I know the Cubs do release tickets last minute like a week or two before as well (just have to keep checking).

Ray Verified Member Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 When's usually the best time to buy tickets for Jays in Seattle games?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 I'm going to try for Cubs tickets again today. Regular sale starts at 11AM.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 When's usually the best time to buy tickets for Jays in Seattle games? I bought mine the day of the game. First game I bought off StubHub, then the second game which was an afternoon game bought right at the Mariners box office. I went last September and the series was during the week, so it was a bit easier I imagine to get good seats that weren't that expensive. I'm sure if the series is played on a weekend in the summer, different story. I think the Jays visit Seattle in May this season.

I paid $1000 CDN for a ticket to Game 5 of the WS, 40 rows up from 3B. I'd much rather pay that than get soaked for a Regular Season game against the Jays.

bnnguy Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Good seats available direct from the team for Jays vs. Red Sox at Fenway July 17 - 20. I snagged a pair for the Monday game.
BJBirdy Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I bought a flex pack (or whatever they call them these days) for the second straight year, plus I got tickets to Canada Day. I'm pretty happy with what I got since I paid the lowest price possibly outside of having season tickets, and have the peace of mind of knowing I like my seats, that I got a pair side by side, and that I paid a pretty decent price.
