Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Plouffe is probably Boston bound unless they trade for a 3B or call up Devers. Plouffe can atleast play a semi-competant third. Sandoval has been an absolute train wreck. What a terrible contract. The Rays traded for him, cash considerations.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 As much as I despise the Orioles, this is just ridiculous.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Arenado hits for the cycle And his last hit... Was a home run.... A walk off home run to win the game Holy s*** Batman that's just epic
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Meanwhile Edwin hita two bombs in one game today to help the Indians finish the series sweep He suddenly has 16 on the season
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 So, the Rays AREN'T a crappy 5th place team year huh? This division is ridiculous
Ray Verified Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Ivan Nova this season has been absolutely ridiculous: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/novaiv01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker- 2.91 ERA, 2 complete games with 1 shutout, 0.8 BB/9. Not a ton of strikeouts, but he's making it work. Searage has worked his magic again.

Take a gander at his stats post-trade deadline last year. Just absurd. http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=1994&position=P&type=&gds=2016-08-06&gde=2017-06-17&season= 12 BBs in 160+ IP!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Gleybar Torres tore his UCL and needs TJ surgery. Apparently its his left elbow which is really weird.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Gleybar Torres tore his UCL and needs TJ surgery. Apparently its his left elbow which is really weird. It's not a throwing injury, he hyper-extended the elbow the other day sliding head first into home.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Hutch is rotting in Triple A. Get him up haha. AAA 68.2 IP so far 3.7 BB/9 6.8 SO/9 3.93 ERA Meh
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 It's not a throwing injury, he hyper-extended the elbow the other day sliding head first into home. Yikes. I never heard that.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 AAA 68.2 IP so far 3.7 BB/9 6.8 SO/9 3.93 ERA Meh About the same as he was in AAA for Pittsburgh last year. Somehow Pittsburgh made him shittier.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 About the same as he was in AAA for Pittsburgh last year. Somehow Pittsburgh made him shittier. Are they trying to have him focus on inducing more ground balls instead of strikeouts? I saw his stats the other day and they didn't look sexy at all.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 It's not a throwing injury, he hyper-extended the elbow the other day sliding head first into home. Thats even more odd to suffer a torn UCL sliding.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Yikes... Brantley to the DL again.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Thats even more odd to suffer a torn UCL sliding. Hyper-extending your elbow diving head first into home is exactly how you tear ligaments, bro.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 As much as liked Brett Cecil and wanted him to stay, I'm glad we didn't re-sign him for 7.75M a season... 4.56 ERA and a 4.30 FIP and worth 0.1 WAR over 34 games so far in STL

Dirty/cheapshot or within the rules? I see the right and wrong on this play, but it just happens so fast. Seriously, I can't make up my mind on this, they're both at fault.

I wouldn't call it dirty, but a reckless play by Rizzo. The way he slid into the catcher he could of easily f***ed up his own left knee.

Regardless of the legality, he probably should have gone with the head first slide to the right of the plate and touching the plate with his hand. Would have had a better chance to avoid the tag and be safe and score the run. It does look, on the view from right behind him, that he veered towards the catcher deliberately on the field side of the plate.

I think he could have easily slid to avoid any contact with the catcher sliding into foul territory on 3rd base side with a left hand reaching for the plate, but old baseball instincts kicked in and Rizzo slid into home prepared to hit the catcher.

Exactly I'm sure it's very hard for these guys to turn that instinct off And I can just imagine the adrenaline when you round 3B knowing the outfielder is gunning for you...
