Hipfan Verified Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 If anything, they'll be looking to sell high on Merrifield after 1 good season. I hope we don't trade for him. Although KC is probably a good trade target. They're officially saying they're rebuilding while also running a $130 million payroll for next season. Most of their guaranteed contracts are sunk costs (Ian Kennedy, Brandon Moss, Jason Hammel, Alex Gordon). Duffy and Salvador Perez are really they're only valuable trade chips. Maybe they'd be desperate to shed some payroll and we could end up getting Danny Duffy for relatively cheap. I wonder if Gordon can get back to being close to a 2 WAR player...if the Jays could land him and Duffy in a package deal it could kill 2 birds with one stone. His contract isn't great but it only has 2 years left on it. He's a great defender but his bat was absolutely horrible last year. Question is was that a blip or the beginning of the end for him?
Ray Verified Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 IMO Minor's days as a starter are over. He's gonna be starting regardless according to Morosi

Gordon's bat is done. Two consecutive seasons where his bat is well below average. He hasn't been the same since his wrist injury. I'd stay far away from him. Still fine defensively, but even that's going to degrade over time. Duffy would be fantastic, but it'd take a little much than I'd be willing to give to get him. There's decent 5th SP options on the market anyways.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 The Cardinals have signed Miles Mikolas for two years, $15.5m. Nice pick up for them.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 The Cardinals have signed Miles Mikolas for two years, $15.5m. Nice pick up for them. Yup. Might be a top-5 free agent SP. Low-risk, high reward signing.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 The Cardinals have a good rotation shaping up: Martinez Reyes Wacha Weaver Mikolas If Reyes is healthy for opening day, Waino might be done as a starter there.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Angels sign Maitan, wonder if this is a sign they don't think they can get Ohtani? Or which year of their bonus pools they chose to use.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Angels sign Maitan, wonder if this is a sign they don't think they can get Ohtani? Or which year of their bonus pools they chose to use. 2.2M for Maitan. Royals signing Yefri Del Rosario 650K
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 So the Angels signed Maitan with money they got from the Braves in the Jim Johnson trade? Kinda funny.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Lol. That's a hilarious amount to give up for the right to overpay Stanton.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Lol wtf. Man, i really like Heliot Ramos too. Nice deal for the Marlins
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 And despite that overly generous offer he probably declines a trade to STL I'm guessing
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Wow, that would be a great deal for the Marlins, on top of all the money they would be saving. Jeter still coming through in the clutch.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 So did the trade actually happen? lol I don't see it anywhere.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 So the Angels signed Maitan with money they got from the Braves in the Jim Johnson trade? Kinda funny. So basically the Angels get Maitan for $2.2M in exchange for taking on Johnson’s $4.5. Pretty good move considering there’s a decent chance Johnson isn’t worth nothing next year.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 So did the trade actually happen? lol I don't see it anywhere. No They still need Stanton's approval and he may be holding out for SFG or LAD
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Well the Angels got the Braves remaining $1.2M in pool money, so you could argue they got Maitan for $1M. They still had to spend the cash tho
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 No They still need Stanton's approval and he may be holding out for SFG or LAD Oh. Gotchya
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Will suck for Miami if they have to accept an inferior trade for Stanton And they'll wish this STL trade proposal never got leaked
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Will suck for Miami if they have to accept an inferior trade for Stanton And they'll wish this STL trade proposal never got leaked What is it?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) What is it? The one on the last page, if it's true Stanton for: Tyler Beede Heliot Ramos Chris Shaw Christian Arroyo And 45M of salary relief goes to SFG (corrected) Edited December 6, 2017 by G-Snarls
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 ah your mixing up SF with STL. Dammit GSnarls stop confusing me.

That seems like great value. Edited December 6, 2017 by G-Snarls

What are the Giants doing? Edited December 6, 2017 by G-Snarls
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Just 45M of relief for SFG? f***, that's a lot to give up. What are the Giants doing? Trying to replicate the Barry Bonds home run pandemonium years?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Any chance Miami leaked this (knowing Stanton won't accept a trade to SF) to drive up his price?
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 Trying to replicate the Barry Bonds home run pandemonium years? Probably just the three-World-Series-in-five-years years.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Probably just the three-World-Series-in-five-years years. I don't see them anywhere near world series caliber even with Mike Stanton
