Looks like a torn ACL... it would be a huge blow to the Nats organization if he's injured long term.. as teams will stop pitching to Daniel Murphy and Ryan Zimmerman with no protection in the lineup.

That harper injury looks baaaaad

 

I am thinking that MLB should look into some changes to the construction and configuration of 1B to reduce the risk of injuries such as that suffered by Harper and also Tulo the other day.

 

Also, it seems ironic when you think back 2 years to when Harper got chastised by Papelbon for not running hard on a ground out and now injures himself running one out that he should have just coasted on once he saw the 1Bman make the grab.

The injury to Harper results in the same.

 

 

Depends on if they could replace the current base with a less slip-resistant material.

Guys nothing will change. Injuries happen when you play a sport with full hustle. If it was Wilmer Difo or Ryan Goins who hurt his leg there no one would have given a s***.

 

Yeah, the bottom line is that full hustle was NOT warranted on that Harper play. Discretion is the better part of valour
