RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Bring in Blevins pls You'd have a hard time finding anyone who wouldn't like a Blevins signing.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Osuna, Grilli, Biagini, Barnes, Loup in the pen. I'd target Dunn/Blevins for another lefty and Hochevar/Casilla as another middle relief/setup option, one or both righties could slide Biagini into AAA SP depth. Not sure why every time we get a quality reliever capable of pitching more than one inning, we want to turn him into a starter. We could actually use a Miller-lite, who can be effective in multiple innings, to bring in, in key situations.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Liam Hendriks would be a good target. Can throw more than 1 inning, doesn't walk guys..

I have no problem keeping Biagini in the pen and even mentioned him as a current lock.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Given that there is a good chance of 26 man rosters the team will need an additional bullpen arm to what we were even projecting.

I would rather carry an extra Platoon player than another Bullpen arm. You could take two half pieces and turn it into an above average bat at many positions.

Gary Verified Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 What's Boone Logan expected to sign for? More or less than Cecil?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 What's Boone Logan expected to sign for? More or less than Cecil? two less years, two less million, two years older.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Or... an extra bench piece Doubt it. Teams already have 8 men bullpens during the season so most teams would choose that. Only time I see it happening is if a position player gets hurt and needs to miss a few days without going on the DL.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 If the Jays don't find an effective BP LHP by Spring Training I'd have Bolsinger as the incumbent #5 starter with Biagini battling for the spot and Liriano in the pen. Keep it that way unless both of those guys completely s*** the bed as starters in the spring or early in the season and they have no choice but to slot Liriano #5.

It's like people don't realize that Liriano pitched like an ace with us. He was as good or better than each of the seasons where he finished top 12 in Cy voting.

I think people are greatly underestimating just how good Liriano can be as a starter.

Yep, I want him starting and hopefully he will pitch like he did for us the last 2 months or so of the season. I think he provides much better value as a starter.

It's not shocking considering every single MLB ballplayer gets at least six figures.
