Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 The real question is do we see David Jacobs on any top 15 lists? Do you mean BORED first round draft pick David Jacob?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Do you mean BORED first round draft pick David Jacob? Yes sir. The legend himself.
wamco Verified Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 The Hurl is too stool for you fools!!! The DARS.... day after rum shitz!!!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I didn't look as much at upside this time...more how I honestly think it will end up (likeliness to make the majors and then judge contribution).
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I didn't look as much at upside this time...more how I honestly think it will end up (likeliness to make the majors and then judge contribution). So Lourdes and Alford are your 1-2 and Vlad is like, 5th at best?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I think we can wrap this up once Hurl sends his list in. I'm curious to see the results.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 So Lourdes and Alford are your 1-2 and Vlad is like, 5th at best? You'd rank Alford #2 on likeliness of making the majors? I still see a lot of boom or bust in him. I don't think Alford is more likely to make the majors than a perfectly cromulent backup catcher like McGuire though I wouldn't advocate ranking the later ahead of the former.

Not if that's the ONLY criteria but if that's one of the most important then yeah. He's got CF chops and a broad skill-set. Big deals! And by "make" I think we mean "make and stick around and not blow chunks immediately and forever"
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) I think we can wrap this up once Hurl sends his list in. I'm curious to see the results. Hurl sent his in last night. I can advance the deadline to tonight at 6 EST. If anyone wanted to send a list by now, they would have done it. If anyone sends a list after tonights deadline they can be included in the google doc but won't be in the points towards the final BJMB list. Edited November 16, 2016 by King
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 So Lourdes and Alford are your 1-2 and Vlad is like, 5th at best? no I still took age to level into consideration and noted in my comments to King that this is how much I believe in Vlad by putting him number 1. I did put Lourdes number 2. It's more that I punished the guys that have issues that I think will keep them from being productive in the majors, or keep them from ever getting there. Alford's K's, Greene's lack of control/command. Moved SRF high based on the fact that he has closer stuff if he fails as a SP (if Osuna ever got hurt I'd speed up that process). I moved Boroucki up ahead of Greene as he is a deception lefty who was healthy for the first time since high school. I did leave both the catchers off even though I like Reese.

Big deals! And by "make" I think we mean "make and stick around and not blow chunks immediately and forever" I tried not to include defense as much this year as I really didn't watch many games and reports on minor league defense are so horrible so I didn't bother (thus the Reese McGuire omission).

King Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Alford = Gose with muscle Are you sending a list in meat?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Are you sending a list in meat? The list is going to be assembled with meat? Tellez is clearly bacon.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Are you sending a list in meat? I'll just post it here: 1) Vlad Guerrero Jr. 2) Anthony Alford 3) SRF 4) Richard Urena 5) Rowdy Tellez 6) Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 7) John Harris 8) T.J. Zeuch 9) Conner Greene 10) Bo Bichette 11) Harold Ramirez 12) Reese McGuire 13) Justin Maese 14) Max Pentecost 15) Angel Perdomo
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Woof. Bottom 10 farm fo sho.
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Woof. Bottom 10 farm fo sho. Not sure if it was on purpose or by accident, but Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is notably missing from your list.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Not sure if it was on purpose or by accident, but Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is notably missing from your list. O rit. Fixed.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 After going through the list closely and the addition of Lourdes I will give that the Jays farm has some potential. Certainly not top 5 and lacking the impact bat who is close (I'd give up a pile of the Jays spects for a Benintendi), but in the 8 to 15 range. Plus I'm noticing that there are a few stacked farms...and many lacking.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 For many people Tellez is that impact bat who is close. Maybe many people here, but I've yet to see an industry person who is high on Tellez' bat.

How much can you buy into that though? Keith Law is the only person I've seen actively go out of his way to put down Tellez. And his reasoning is that he struckout a couple times against fireballers in the 2015 AFL (dead serious). He's done more than anyone could have asked for at this point, including hitting 310/404/559 vs RHP as a 21 year old in AA. And I get the criticisms. He'll have no defensive value, and really have to hit to make a major league impact. But until he stops hitting it's hard to argue against him.

Goldy had no prospect hype, nor did Votto... not that Tellez is nearly on their level, but the fact is, bat-first 1B prospects often get overlooked, especially if they're fat.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 For many people Tellez is that impact bat who is close. I am very apprehensive about him..... Snider was my Bae and he let me right down
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 For many people Tellez is that impact bat who is close. If you consider a Mitch Moreland without the defense "impact" I'll give you that one.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Any votes for David Jacobs?
