wk680 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 The asking price would be way more than Pillar. They'd want a significant prospect in return as well. Do you think Tellez would be significant enough? It makes sense since he is 1Bman and would be blocked by Votto, although you can rotate him and Votto using DH. Or he could be sent off in another trade later (maybe as part of a package to get back an OFer).
baubau Verified Member Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Don't see the Reds wanting Pillar since they have Billy Hamilton Oh I know! Just noting to jays_feaver that if Pillar is the asking price from the Reds, that is something I imagine the Jays to heavily consider (depending on how much reds want to eat). Truthfully, I highly doubt the Jays are entertaining the idea for Votto and these rumors during AA's time is just hauting this management group due to fan noise/obession. I mean... Psht. Maybe they want a better hitting version of Billy Hamilton! A 2 wRC+ difference is huge fam. /sarcasm /
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Maybe I wasnt clear in that im assuming the Reds wouldnt eat Votto's contract and still would want a good asset like Pillar in return, which I wouldnt do. This front office seems solid enough that we don't need to give up good mlb assets for the privilege to take on massive contracts.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 If AA was the GM, I could see this (Votto) happening. I can't see Shapiro/Atkins doing it. Contract is too long and Votto is only going to get worse, not better. Inciarte is a good target, but he'll cost a lot, probably more than the Jays are comfortable trading.
Gary Verified Member Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I'd say 50/50 we see Inciarte. Zero chance on Votto.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 About as much as a SnowBBBBalls chance in Hell !!!! Lol
