Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Don't know why he doesn't go. With Davis' speed and two outs, he scores on anything past the infield walking.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 When they say "last successful pickoff - Sept 20, 2015" - they mean that's the last time he successfully attempted a pickoff right?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Matt Vasgersian needs to chill. With that said, brilliant play by the defense.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I'd probably go 4 years $80M for EE. 3 years would be better though. I might be a little high on what Santana will get. He'll be 31 at the start of the 2017 season and his 2014 and 2015 were a tad underwhelming. If he hits like he did this past year...he'll get his dough. He can market his versatility now that he's out playing LF!!! He's played 5 innings in LF, c'mon man. Nice tag. EE's worth more.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Man - Lindor is a f***ing star. f***ing star. Fowler is making teams think twice about paying him to play CF....(errr maybe I'm used to seeing Pillar be amazing - Fowler just looks so slow).

I think he throws over like 3 or so times per season. Last successful probably means that it was actually a successful pickoff, i.e. his throw lead to an out being made.

He was actually around average/slightly above this year. The Cubs told him to start playing deeper and it made a huge difference. He's no Pillar, that much is clear.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Jesus, Heyward is just simply lost out there. Baffling.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Matt Vasgersian needs to chill. With that said, brilliant play by the defense. I dunno, the excitement from Vasgersian is what makes me like him so much, but eh...I take the good with the bad.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Baez is redefining how to tag people. Mark my words - this will be the biggest new defensive skill since pitch framing!!! Coming to you soon - a "tag time" stat!

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Jesus, Heyward is just simply lost out there. Baffling. is he really terrible now or just having an off year. I remember when everyone wanted to sign him last year. Buy low!?!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jon-lesters-oddities-all-on-display/ Thanks... it's so ugly, regardless.

Well then that stat is stupid to post...suggesting the last time he picked someone off was just over a year ago doesn't support this on-going narrative that he can't hold runners....They should show how many pick off attempts he made each year. (NOTE - Buck just said he attempted ZERO pickoffs in 2014).

I appreciate the excitement, but it just seemed a bit too much for a play like that. He also lost it with Heyward's catch earlier which was great and all, but he makes it seem like Willie Mays catching it over his shoulder in Polo Grounds. I feel like he was actually less ecstatic for Bryant's homerun than those two plays lol. Maybe he just really loves good defense.

Something weird has been happening with his offense for some time now. When he broke into the league he was an excellent hitter, good in many facets. Then the power just went away completely but he still maintained the high walk rate and decent batted ball contact, and now this year everything just went to s***, although there's probably some element of bad batted ball luck in there.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Meh... they've been way better then JB and company. Oh yeah, for sure, and it's not even close.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 He has the yips, won't do it. Yeah yeah - I know...that's why the stat confuses me (they've shown it a few times these playoffs). Talk about how he has the yips and then tell me the last time he actually attempted a pickoff - not the last time he picked someone off.

Ross and especially Contreras has picked guys off.

(NOTE - Buck just said he attempted ZERO pickoffs in 2014). Yeah they would have been better off putting up his attempts per season, which are in the single digits each year. However, as far as left handed pitchers are concerned, not one single successful pickoff in over a year is still a big deal.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Pretty sure I've seen Carl Edwards Jr. throw harder than 95 in this series Matt.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Wow! Trying so hard to frame it. Catch it man.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 What the f*** Contreras? That was arguably a strike...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 PB the infamous stolen bag, lol.
