KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 O.K. It's really silly to have so many of these but I really do appreciate Estrada. The kind of pitcher's pitcher that the team hasn't had since the days of Jimmy Key. Pitched the only complete game of the entire staff (sadly in the game 1 loss to Cleveland).
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Estrada is a boss. Is it too early to talk about extending him? He's a free agent after 2017
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I can't imagine anyone not liking this guy.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I know he's on the wrong side of 30 and has a herniated disc but I can get behind extending Estrada long term.
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Love marco. No one more fun to watch pitch on this team when he is on his game.

I don't anticipate him falling off a cliff. He showed that the concerns about him having a big regression in 2016 were overblown. I think we pretty much know what he is at this point and I can't see why the team would feel comfortable extending the commitment.

Tacking on a guaranteed year in 2018 + a 2019 option would be alright for me. 13 and 13 with a buyout? Hard to see him falling off a cliff given that he doesn't rely on a fastball and has that crazy changeup.

Hope his back doesn't bug him next season.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Should have offered him 3 years last offseason! He probably would have taken the extra year at only 7 or 8 more million.
