Laika Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 But the Jays are a big budget market. Right? Yup... that's underwhelming to say the least. You can justify Mitch Moreland if he's used in a platoon AND they spend some money on the outfield. That's two qualifications but you do need to judge the offseason/team in totality and not based on individual moves/players.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Pompey is a full win better than Revere So we might as well roll the dice on him than replacement level garbage. If we are soliciting services of the likes of Moreland might as well Trade Donaldson Estrada Happ Tulo now since winning is not the objective
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I think the easiest thing to do right now is secure Revere for like 2/10, that takes the stress off our needs a little bit. Revere doesn't deserve money like that man.

Both Smoak and Morales are better against RHP so who is Moreland going to platoon with

Also, the Jays are likely in on everyone of their specific needs, this is JP Morosi looking for some click bait more than anything.

Weak market and we are sitting back watching soon there will be only the revere's and Moreland types left and if it gets to that and crunch time that's how over paying happens.

Yeah safe to assume they ask about literally every available OF and 1B/DH. That's how you get a feel for the f***ing market!
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Revere doesn't deserve money like that man. He'll play a good LF for this team. He'll play a very ok CF for this team. He'll bat leadoff for this team and he has 1 design. Get on base and cause havoc.

I'm not optimistic, but I'll be fair and give them time.

Relax bro, the winter meetings basically start tonight as GM's etc, check in tonight. The stove's going to be hot! Plus, we're a team that has already added one of the better players available in Morales.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 You'd give Revere the most AB's on the team? lol Barely related: Remember when Pillar was slated to get the most ABs last year? Phew. Given that the lead-off revolving door never involved Pillar again, I suspect Gibby gave Pillar the shot early on to make him shut the f*** up until even he couldn't whine about it anymore (and if it worked out, no biggy).
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 You'd give Revere the most AB's on the team? lol Yeah.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Revere is a borderline replacement level bat. LMAO, Moreland is worst. Moreland had an OBP of less than .300 Just the fact that Shapiro checked in on Moreland is very f***ing scary. Imagine Smoak and Moreland on the same team, Neither can hit lefties. Same f***ing player, and we will be throwing 10 Mil a year down the drain, Add in Morales at 12 Mil and thats f***ing 22M. EE's salary. So instead of EE we will have Morales, Smoak, and Moreland. Together they didn't equal 1 win between them last year, and EE had 4. Is this good management? Shatkins is f***ing lost. Their brand of Managing by committee means there are too many voices, and they won't be able to strike the iron when it counts the most.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Mitch Moreland aka MLB The Show Generic built First Baseman.

It'd be nice if we could just stick Donaldson there and never, ever mention it again. I half want to sign Fowler just to guarantee an above average hitter in the leadoff spot.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I don't think Moreland is worth much. I'd rather just keep Smoak on tbh.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Yeah. Well that's stupid, and you should think about why it's stupid. Revere would probably be tied with Pillar for worst everyday hitter on the team (with a slightly higher batting average maybe). Other than the fact that he's fast, why should he hit leadoff and get more at bats than guys like Donaldson, Morales, Tulo, Martin, Travis, etc?

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Apparently Jarrod Dyson could be traded soon. If the trade cost isn't too high, he'd be an amazing 4th outfielder (maybe even okay getting more at-bats in a platoon with Upton). He just came off a 3.1 WAR season. No power, but speed to burn and great defense.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Is that Dolittle? Chick is hot Yup, that's his wife.
