Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Not home guys. It will drop at around 11. 4 more hours to perfect my offseason plan. Let's just say the terminator run Jays will be VERY active this offseason.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 JB gone, EE likely gone. I won't miss JB. Shapiro will have to make some hard decisions. Dickey, Thole, Saunders

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 In the meantime we can make our warm up posts in this thread: Goins, Upton, Smoak, Loup and Tepera for Mike Trout.

Please do not do this, I will never hear the end of it if this is turned into the real offseason roster thread This was not my intention in starting this thread
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Ban this dumbass thread spammer please.

Dickey, Thole, Saunders With a rotation of Stroman, Sanchez, Estrada, Happ and Lariano, I don't see how Dickey and Thole are "hard decisions".

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 With a rotation of Stroman, Sanchez, Estrada, Happ and Lariano, I don't see how Dickey and Thole are "hard decisions". Bolsinger is next in line as depth and the offseason hasn't even started yet. That's a pretty good situation to be in.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Just like GDT's we should just go with the first thread made. It's only fair. Mods please merge BTS' thread with this one when he inevitabley starts it.

That's a pretty good situation to be in. With Biagini as a possible SP5 candidate as well, I think the Jays have some options with their starting rotation to fill in holes. I wouldn't be opposed seeing Happ traded for a decent OF with control if the other team absorbs the salary.
wamco Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Well bolsinger sucks. So there's that
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Well bolsinger sucks. So there's that Career xFIP of 3.77. He really doesn't.
baubau Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 So.. who is the team's backup catcher? Do we push hard for Navarro or try and trade for one? I can't see many attractive options in the FA market.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 What if the outfield next year is Upton-Pillar-Carrera and Smoak is the starting 1B. Please no.
baubau Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 What if the outfield next year is Upton-Pillar-Carrera and Smoak is the starting 1B. Please no. Pretty sure the worst case is a platoon of Upton/Carrera and Pillar then Pompey.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 What if the outfield next year is Upton-Pillar-Carrera and Smoak is the starting 1B. Please no. That would mean the FO spent ZERO in the offseason. And we'd be back to the days of 15k weeknight crowds.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 What if the outfield next year is Upton-Pillar-Carrera and Smoak is the starting 1B. Please no. That's the FO off-season equivalent of a player going 0-4 with 4 K's in a game. Bad, and a very unlikely event. It's not going to happen. Even if they completely strike out on the re-sign/FA front and have to trade one of their pitchers for an outfielder it'll be better than that.
baubau Verified Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Sell high on Pillar. For what? As much I would love to trade Pillar - not a fan - what could he possibly return to make it worth it?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Sell high on Pillar. no one ever gives up anything good for all defense players.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 So.. who is the team's backup catcher? Do we push hard for Navarro or try and trade for one? I can't see many attractive options in the FA market. Need to trade for someone. Have to upgrade on Navarro.

I can't see many attractive options in the FA market. Jason Castro is a really good pitch framer. Not a bad bat against right handers. He might want a better opportunity for playing time though. A trade is probably our best option.

I was mostly joking with my post...I think.
