rydermike Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) Just got a notification from The Score app. Barnes on roster for the series, Liriano is out. Has a concussion EDIT: Contrary to my original post, stating Liriano was out for ALCS as well, according to the MLB Concussion Protocol, there is an exception to the normal injury rules which state that an injured player must automatically miss the next series. Therefore, there is the potential for Liriano to return for the ALCS. More to come Edited October 9, 2016 by rydermike
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Just got a notification from The Score app. Barnes on roster for the series, Liriano out. THis means Liriano out for ALCS as well automatically as that is the rule for injury replacements in the playoffs. Has a concussion This blows, like I said in another thread, at least they called up the right pitcher in Barnes.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Too bad about Liriano, but glad to see Barnes up as he can give us multiple innings as well.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 No that's wrong he's available for the ALCS per the new concussion protocols: It's similar to the 7-day concussion DL
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Cecil is going to have to step it up.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Cecil is going to have to step it up. Scariest part in all this Cecil walked Chris Davis in the wild card game. Walked odor in 4 pitches in game 2. I have no confidence in him whatsoever. It wasn't even a competitive walk

He had some rough luck at the start of the season but he's put up pretty solid numbers overall. 11K/9 2BB/9 2.87 xFIP Cecil 2nd half? Pretty slick 13.1 K/9 2BB/9 1.98 xFIP Spinng a narrative that he has control issues based off of 2 postseason outings (2 PA)is dumn at its finest.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 It's similar to the 7-day concussion DL I believe you're right fatty, TSN just reported it's the 7 day concussion DL... he can't come back for the LDS, but will be eligible for the LCS.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 This sucks Presuming we make the ALCS hopefully Liriano is OK

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Xfip is the worst possible metric to judge pitching performance because it assumes all fly balls are equal That is virtually saying that it is irrelevant how hard the ball is hit. The only thing that matters is whether the ball is hit or not. Anyone who uses it reeks of a lack of education and real world experience
admin Site Manager Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Hopefully he's okay and may just miss game one of ALCS assuming we win.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 They don't need innings out of the pen they need effectiveness. Barnes should only be used for 1 inning max. That's not necessarily true at all, it's very possible that we end up in a situation where it would be beneficial to have Barnes pitch multiple innings rather than burning two arms.

They have scrubs like Feldman, Tepera and even Loup who can be used ifs low leverage and they just need innings.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Hey guys, The Jays are -183 favs tomorrow in an elimination game with the ace (one of them) going out at home against a Texas shitballer after the offense just creamed their 2 best pitchers. Maybe tomorrow the Jays can focus on just getting outs with the bullpen instead of worrying about a LOOGY. If the Jays have one problem tomorrow the Rangers have 10.

I wouldn't call him shitballer, in two games against us this season he went 7 innings each and only allowed 2-3 runs in each. It's not elite level but it's pretty darb good.
Mkdaman1818 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 If we can skate by tomorrow, I almost wonder if we set a three man rotation of Sanchez, Estrada, and Stroman, and maybe Happ can come out of the pen? Just spitballing...

ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 For a 7 game series, not happening. Didnt they already say that Aaron Sanchez will pitch a maximum of 1 game per series? If a world series berth is on the line are they really going to not use him to save 7 innings?

Sanchez looks and fees healthy and Osuna is pitching 5 out saves with a bad shoulder.
