Alleged Beer Can culprit Ken Pagan turns himself in.

My thoughts on this:

 

- Im glad he was charged and that there was a lot of public scrutiny for the general deterrent factor alone. My kid was watching that game, what lesson does he learn if Pagan isnt humiliated and criminally sanctioned?

 

- i dont buy for a second his "I had a cup excuse". First, the police wouldnt have charged him if all they had was the blown up broadcast point of view (a la youtube). They are obviously relying on the security camera footage. Second, if you look at his cup it was obviously just poured (has at least an inch of head on the beer). This is consistent with having just poured over a can into a plastic cup leaving a mostly empty can in your non-cup hand. What I expect happened is that he had no intention of actually throwing it at Kim and was simply pissed (and likely drunk) lobbed the can in the air, which carried into the field. Not enough for an assault but enough for a mischief.

 

- This guy will probably lose his job too, at least in it's current form. How can you be a sports writer and be banned from Rogers venues for life?

I've heard that place is good too, but never tried it.

 

I recommend it. Nice hard liquor selection too, but not sure if that's your thing. Good looking place though. They did all that with what a dimly lit dive bar and added the now customary summer patio.

Currently he is in a editor position so he would never have a working need to be at th dome.

Ya that was pretty disgusting. Not a word of condemnation from the broadcasters or twitter about it either, but Toronto needs to "be better"

Excellent point. I think any reasonable person understands that one person acted like an idiot and that his actions do not reflect an entire population. It's just typical hyperbole by the media and too many people are getting caught up with it.

 

On the flip side, the beer tosser is clearly a douche and the only punishment he should receive is to have his image printed on every plastic beer cup being served at the Rogers centre.
